Final installment of reviews from our recent trip. To review(see previous threads): Flying Fish-A; Narcoosee A-;Gf private dining-b+; Brown Derby-c+.
Artist point: A new eatery for us and much anticipated as we are big pinot noir fans. Enjoyed 2 outstanding bottles-Van Duzer Pinot and Willkenzie reserve Pinot-awesome bottle.
DW had venison spring rolls to start-average and a ok tenderloin for her entree. Brother had an excellent Pork chop w/ a crazy good mac and cheese(the best bet on this menu). I had mushroom soup to start, again average and Wild king salmon-slightly overcooked but still very good.
DD had an embarrissingly small kids fillet, which are outstanding server recognized as a dissapointment right away . She offered additional meat(note kids fillet was$18), but we passed. She offered desserts which DW had- a cream brulee which again was not exciting.
The ambience was nice and the service very gracious, but hit or miss on the food. Really wanted to love this place, but save the wine can only offer a B rating. Unless staying at WL I dont know if it is worth the trip.
California Grill-have eaten here twice prior and as usual was happy to receive a window table with a great view of the MK and fireworks. Our last night of the trip so we decided to splurge:
DW started w/ a glass of Roeder sparkling and I a glass of CH. Montelena chard-a greet start. First course was a cheese flatbread and sushi deluxe platter-both yummy.
Sprung for a great bottle of Pinot Noir-William Selyem and proceeded to apps. Dw had a really good lobster salad and I the "tomato" extravaganza of heirlooms-delicious. Our entrees were timed perfectly-DW the filet(the best meat by far I tasted on the trip, DD-kids steak, and I the fish of the day- a red snapper prepared outstanding. DW wrapped it up w/ her best dessert of the trip a Banana custard crunch. Perhaps its the wine talking, as I seldom do it,but honestly an A+. Ca grill remains my choice for best food at WDW.
Any comments, I would be happy to respond. Thanks
