Hey all.
I'm quitting the DIS. I'm leaving voluntarily. I had a brief and totally cordial back and forth with one of the Mods (truthfully my favorite Mod here) and came to the conclusion that the DIS and I are not a perfect match. The reasons behind my thinking are not important, but I much prefer to try and bow out gracefully.

I've spent more time on these boards than I should have and enjoyed almost every minute. I've made many good friends who I will never meet and wouldn't know if they broadsided me. But still, I consider them my friends. I've met other people who I've disagreed with (hopefully cordially) but yet admired. And others still who have caused me to shake my head in disbelief over one thing or another but yet.....I consider you my friend as well (just maybe not my best friend)!

I've had a LOT of fun and way too many laughs here. Thank you all for the many fond memories.

In closing: This has been a heated political season. My final requests of all of you is to BE INFORMED. Do NOT watch ONE news channel and take it for gospel. Do NOT read one newspaper and accept it as the truth. Certainly do not believe ANYTHING you recieve via e-mail or telephone. And if you hear outlandish rumors realize that they are outlandish for a reason.

RERSEARCH! And then make an informed decision. America, despite it's many flaws is still the best around. But it can and should be better.
When you vote, don't vote on your behalf but on the behalf of your children and grandchildren.

It's been fun DISers. Maybe I'll "See you real soon".

Dear OP, I think all of us who have been long time DISers have felt "burn-out" at one time or another. I have been on the DIS for almost 9 years now. I have met quite a few DISers, thru DIS Meets and WDW. What an awesome esperience the internet is! I found out it is best not to get too wrapped up in argumentative threads. In the grand scheme of things, does it really matter? Do you really change anybody's mind?
I hope you will take a breather and rejoin us when you feel rested!

Breaks are good. if that is all you need then just take one and come back soon. If there is a deeper issue that you can't get over than follow your heart and know you are doing what is best for yourself.

Folks.. I'm trying my best to be discreet and graceful. I'm not leaving due to burnout, politics, other posters, hostilities, health, bubonic plaque, etc.
I'm admittedly a bit of a loose cannon. But it is and has always been in jest.
I was the class clown (who happened to excel in his class).
I enjoy a good laugh more than anything. Perhaps my boundaries are a bit more lenient than others. Figure it out!

Thank you for your kind words. It's no secret between us that you and I have very differing opinions on, well, almost everything! But I fondly recall not too long ago where you and I shared PM's over a dessert recipe. And our conversation was completely amicable. That is the sort of thing I was referring to in my previous bow out.....about how I could be very different from someone here and yet still be the same, and ultimately be friends.
P.S. - DawnCT1 - McCain's gonna lose! (and you're still going to be OK)

Yep - breaks are a good thing from time to time.. Took one myself earlier this year.. Got busy with other things and just kind of lost interest for awhile.. I have a feeling it will happen again, because I realized how good it felt to take a break..

Come back later.. Take a break again when needed.. The DIS isn't going anywhere..
