I have been injured for the last month and have been unable to run at all. I did some cross training but no running. I ran an easy 5 Saturday morning and did fine but I have realized that I have lost so much "running fitness" that I won't be able to do the Goofy. Thank goodness the charity that I'm running for has not turned in the entries yet so I am able to get a number for the 1/2 at WDW. I have now set my marathon goal for ING Atlanta in March. I'm still bummed about not being able to do the Goofy, though. Oh, well, 2011, here I come!

Sorry that you have to withdraw from Goofy, Ed. So very proud of you, though, for understanding your limitations and adjusting accordingly!!:thumbsup2 No one event is worth your future in running!!

:goodvibes Anne

Sorry to hear that!! Just know that you are not in that boat alone. I am having concerns about the Goofy also. Right now I am just hoping to make it through the Race For The Taste. Once I see how I come out of that one I will have to make the tough decision about the Goofy. :worried:

Hang in there and refocus your efforts into the ING.

I'm sorry Ed. Glad though you know what you need to do and that you will be able to do something. WISHing you a good healthy Atlanta.

Sorry to hear that :( But with a 5 miler and over 3 months, you could rebound for Goofy. You know yourself better than I.

After 2 left knee surgeries last year, I couldn't get up to 5 miles until 11/22. My long day was only 11 miles on 12/27. No doubles and still able to finish my 4th Goofy.

Have a great 1/2!

Sorry to hear about the set back Ed. Just think of how good it will feel when you get it down the road. Since you are running the half is there any chance of just walking the full to get the Goofy medal?

Ed, I know it must have been a hard decision to make, but you'll be better off in the long run! As you said there is always 2011 and it will be here before you know it. I'll see you then!:thumbsup2

Ed,
so sorry to hear. I am just starting week 3 of my training so you are not that far behind. But you know what is good for you. No sense pushing it and getting injured. At least there is no money lost as they were able to change your race for you.

See you at the half!
Duane

My coach and friend thought it best to just re-do the calendar for my situation. I had/have a deep tissue bruise in my arch so running is painful. I will not be well trained for the 1/2 but trained enough to have a good race. My goal was to run a winter and a spring marathon and so I should still be able to do that, just not at Disney. I will run the 1/2 at WDW and the 1/2 at Mercedes with my DW and then do ING Atlanta or Country Music full. That sort of counts!

Ed, sorry you are having issues and are having to miss the Goofy but sounds like you have a good plan in place for future races. My DH, Steve, did the Country Music full this year. Just a warning - lots of hills. ;)

Ed - those are hard decisions to make, I know, but you have to do what's best for you and sounds like you have a good plan in place.

As for CMM,

My DH, Steve, did the Country Music full this year. Just a warning - lots of hills. ;)

Yep! Lots of hillls!!
