Bye-bye Captain EO? 'Tomorrowland' is moving in

I personally am a Rock n roll guy, but do understand the incredible talent of Michael Jackson. With that being said though Captain EO is long overdue for a change. Very very dated, I hope they do find something else to replace it permanently after the screening!!!

Why can't you just accept it has absolutely nothing to do with WDW Tomorrowland?

I'm amazed given his history and controversy about child abuse that Disney would even consider for one second to bring this back. I would never watch it on principal alone.

By the way...anyone else think is was a stupid idea for Disney to use the iconic term "Tomorrowland" for a movie that has absolutely nothing to do with anything at its Theme Parks? Surely there are any number of other names that they could have chosen for this project. Sort of like giving a movie the title "The Jungle Cruise" only to find out that it is a romantic comedy about two people who live in Des Moines.

from the trailer I saw before Cinderella, I swear I saw thr space mtn building in "tomorrowland" and the surrounding architecture also seemed very reminisceny of tomorrowland the land. I'm interested to see if the film does more than loosely tie in the architecture at all.

I'm stubborn. I still maintain that the Pirates of the Caribbean movies are based on the theme park attraction, despite the movies not being about the ride at all.

Honey I shrunk the audience was one of my favorite things at Disney back in the day. Would love a new 3D/4D attraction in there. Saw EO for the first time in November and that was one time too many for me.

Agree. One would think a major film studio might be able to create a new 15 minute 3-D movie for that space. Crazy thought I know!

Hopefully I will get to see EO one more time for nostalgia before it gets replaced. I will always have "Another Part Of Me" on my iPod to hold me over.

But be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.

Remember AliEncounter was deemed inappropriate for MK and we then received Stitch. An improvement...not really!

That sounds like what they do in DL. Their Captain Eo theater is also used for movie previews for a while.

Me too. I used to enjoy EO when it was a contemporary thing. In light of the allegations against him (true or false) and his tragic death, MJ is just sort of a sad case. That's not what I'm looking for in a Disney attraction. Also agree with Farps that the production is very dated.

Oh, so not gone for good....yet. Interesting. So maybe I'll get another chance on my next trip. But still, something new and improved would be cool with me. Just not a full-time coming attractions screen.

I liked Alien Encounter. We loved the pre-show and quote it all the time: "if something can’t be done with X-S then it shouldn’t be done at all".

Sorry, but the only thing I can agree with in that post is the bolded part. And then only because I hate seeing vacant, unused buildings anywhere at WDW.

A really cool new 3D movie plus a new Frozen ride in Epcot might give us 4 tier 1 attractions which could at least spread them out and make them easier to get as a 4th option. Plus, an additional theater for soarin would help to offer more availability.

The only good thing about Captain EO - anyone at that attraction can't also be in line for Soarin' or Test Track.

You know, I'd like to see them do a NEW Captain EO movie, possibly animated, or get another musician to replace MJ (Bruno Mars?) and do a sequel/reboot or what have you. Disney owns Lucasfilm now, so they could do a modern version with cutting edge technology. They might need to spruce up the "4-D" aspect too because there's hardly anything special about 3-D movies anymore. Could be cool!
