Bye-bye Captain EO? 'Tomorrowland' is moving in

Even though I kinda love Captain EO for nostalgic reasons, I'm OK with a change. As someone that grew up in the 80s taking a lot of dance lessons, the dance moves really take me back! I come out of the theater doing layouts and chugs! But I know it's hopelessly dated and most people aren't into it. I was glad they brought it back after he died and glad I got to see it again a few times as a adult. Time to put it out to pasture, though. They could always bring it back for special occasions.

Hopefully, EO will be shipped off to "infinity, and beyond!".

By the way...anyone else think is was a stupid idea for Disney to use the iconic term "Tomorrowland" for a movie that has absolutely nothing to do with anything at its Theme Parks? Surely there are any number of other names that they could have chosen for this project. Sort of like giving a movie the title "The Jungle Cruise" only to find out that it is a romantic comedy about two people who live in Des Moines.

tomorrowland is a full length feature film...they are gonna show the whole thing in that theater in epcot? really?

It's only going to be a sneek peek which is basically an extended trailer (maybe 15 minutes in length).
Yes, but if the extended trailer is a "success", can a hard ticket event featuring the whole movie be far behind!

Just an extended preview. Those types of previews have been run for almost every Disney movie in the past few years, but all those screenings had been at Hollywood Studios.

I wonder if this means that they have something else prepared to go in there. The movie preview certainly can't last too long. It premiers in May so I would think it will be there until June at the very latest. I doubt (or maybe it's just hope that they wont) that they will be bringing Captain EO back after the premier closes. Hopefully something new goes in there. And hopefully it is something to do with imagination.

You mean like another preview (and rumored M&G) for a Pixar movie that comes out in mid-June?

Well that's certainly one way to judge reaction before giving it the boot for good.

Some of the latest previews have shown that there is something to do with the parks. At the very least the most recent US trailer shows Space Mountain in the background. A since pulled foreign trailer seemed to show scenes of a kid riding it's a small world and Walt himself. I dunno, but I think there's more than meets the eye with this movie.

As for EO, I knew it was coming and I'll miss it, but I don't mind it retiring. I wish they'd release a collector's edition bluray or something of it though. Intstant buy for me! I'd hate to see that theater turned into just a movie preview center though. Weren't they using the theater at DHS (the one near JTA sign-up) for that lately? I know they've been doing the same at DL with the EO theater. I'd like to see a real attraction take the space.

It always surprises me when people say "good riddance" to an unpopular/dated/bad attractions.
If you don't like it you don't have to experience it. This is a sneak preview not the whole movie, it'll be acouple of months and then be gone. Captain EO is coming back Shawn Slater already answered that question. If it didn't come back it's another empty space...now if they are doing something else with that space, that's a different thing.
I don't like many attractions but I'm always grateful that it attracts people. It's something, for someone to do without a line.

I saw the trailer and thought it was related/connected. Shows what I know I guess.
