I just had to pass this on. My DH and I concieved a special surprise on our last trip to Disney. (others are 12 yrs at time), ....

Had been thinking of purchasing DVC for atleast 13 yrs. (never had)

Couldn't decide on a name for new DD. SOMEHOW thought of Morgan. ( Morgan Elizabeth to be exact.).

Finally purchased DVC (SSR (for xtra yrs) even though we usually rented at OKW)

NOW, I find out (call me naive) Morgan is a type of HORSE!!!???

So, to sum up we purchased a piece of magical Horse town and named our new DD (surprise finisher) after a type of horse???

Could it be a Higher Power of ours at work or just coincidence.LOL

I'm sorry, but I have heard so much guff about naming my DD after a horse, and it just occurred to me the connection to SSR. I had to share.::MickeyMo :::MinnieMo :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

I think Morgan is a lovely name...I can't imagine anyone giving you "guff" about it!

It's not like you called her Secretariat or something! :p

Congratulations on your SSR purchase, and WELCOME HOME!! :)

Morgans are beautiful horses, and Morgan is also a beautiful name for your DD! Glad you found a connection!

I had been trying to think of a good "Disney" name for both of our pets. The dog ended up being Murphy which wasn't Disney at all:( . When we got the cat, the name that popped into my head was Lilly. I call her Lilly-Belle and it finally dawned on me that I did have a connection. The model train Walt Disney had at his home had an engine called the Lilly Belle after his wife Lillian. And, when we got Lilly's papers, her birthday was on December 5, which is Walt's birthday. So, I may be stretching it a bit, but I was able to work in Disney.

Morgan is a beautiful name for a little girl, and I am sure you will have tons of memories with her at SSR!

or maybe ... this little girl is destined to grow up being a horse nut!

I'm one ... even without the "connections."
My poor hubby puts up with it well ... goes riding with me several times each month and didn't even flinch when I had to visit Justin Morgan's horse's grave during a recent visit to Vermont.

Yes, we bought SSR ... and the equestrian-theming was a plus!! :)

Thanks to all. I think Morgan is a beautiful name too. Thank you all for saying so. I really am getting tired of the negative comments regarding my beautiful DD's name. Oh well, you know what they say about opinions.....Everybody has one.::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

I'm sure it is just a coincidence. Some of our freinds think we are obsessed with Disney, but I assure them that our two boys Woody and Buzz, and our daughter Cinderella are perfectly well adjusted.

Being the proud and loving owner of six equines, let me just share some thoughts about horses.

Firstly, they are extremely sensitive animals, loving in nature. Some are a little willfull in nature (not unlike humans). They're a lot of work and require alot of attention but the exercise benefits are much cheaper than a gym. They also teach humans how to be responsible for something other than themselves. They all have their own personalities and are quite capable of returning the love you offer. They can be strong and gentle at the same time. I have one mare who had suffered for over two years with hoof problems, now resolved, who has served as an inspiration to me. She's shown me what tough resolve can do. Humans sometimes wonder if animals have feelings. I know of some humans would do well to demonstrate one-half of the feelings my "girls" have.

The limited info I have about Morgans is that they are versatile creatures, being able to be ridden and used for work, and many sleek enough to be shown in dressage. Quite elite I would say.

Morgan is a beautiful name. Should some of your friends continue to scoff at it, please share with them some of the traits that horses have: love, strength, determination, contentedness (have you ever watched them grazing in a pasture?) and they're beautiful. What better qualities could a name engender?

Their only drawback is they don't understand Disney.
