You think I would have grasped this whole BWV thing by now but..... I had ruled out renting points from a DVC member as we decided we were a little uncomfortable with that whole arrangement. Now a co-worker told DH that you can rent a villa directly through Disney. Is this true? Do you just call CRO?

Also, I thought I had understood that when you reserve a villa you can't necessarily reserve a particular type of view... is that right? Are there different prices for a standard or preferred view?

One more question... do the villas come with maid service?

Sorry to be sooooo dense on this subject, I really appreciate any info. Thanks:o

Now a co-worker told DH that you can rent a villa directly through Disney. Is this true? Do you just call CRO?

Absolutely! All the villas, BWV included, are called "Home Away From Home" resorts and can be booked just like any other Disney resort. When you book this way, you do indeed get daily maid service just like any other WDW resort. Availability is limited somewhat because the majority of the villas are booked by members but there are also plenty of rooms being rented. Every time a DVC member uses their membership to stay somewhere else, it is "paid" for by Disney renting out the Disney villa. You just call, like any other WDW resort, and see what is available for your dates. They also tend to have more rooms become available at 60 days out from your time. Any rooms they were holding for possible DVC rentals are released to the general public at that point.

For cash paying customers, there is no difference in view when it comes to pricing. You cannot guarantee that you'll have a particular view, but don't worry, cash customers are treated the same here as at any other WDW resort.

Sometimes, there are even discounts available for BWV. You might want to check out the different sources for codes and see if there are currently any for BWV.

Well, PamOKW pretty much has you covered! But yes, you can book BWV through cro, just like any other resort.

You will get the same service as any other resort, housekepping every day, room service, youwont even notice the difference. Basically if you are paying cash, there is no difference. BWV are a deluxe resort.

You will love it there!! The BWV are beauitful and a wonderful resort to stay at :)

Request whatever view you want, it wont be guaranteed, but definately request it :)

Laura :)

Thanks for clarifying that for me. I guess I read so much on these boards abour "renting" points that I just assumed you had to do that. Hmmmm, now that gives me more to think about. We stayed at BWI this past winter and really loved the resort and want to stay there next time. :D

There are even AP discounts at times at the DVC resorts and I have found AP discounts to be better than the cash discount they give DVC members. You will love staying in the Epcot resort area it is so convenient and has so much atmosphere. Just walking over to the YC/BC side of the lake is a totally different experience than strolling on the boardwalk on the other side of the lake and then walking in the other direction takes you into WS which is one different atmosphere after the other! Or walk the other direction and you can experience hollywood and fantasmic! It also has some of the best WDW restaurants a short stroll away. It is a lovely area to stay in while at WDW.

I'm not sure we would buy an AP so probably wouldn't get those discounts but that brings up another ? Do AAA discounts apply to "Home Away From Home" accomodations?

I am not 100% sure because I always get AP discounts but I would be willing to bet there are AAA discounts at all the WDW resorts. How long are you staying at WDW? Many times if it is longer than a week the difference in price for a length of stay pass or whatever they are calling them now and an AP plus the additional room discounts ends up saving you money. You only need 1 AP to get the room rate everyone else can get hoppers or whatever.

From another Michigander who rents a few points, I would suggest you take another look at renting from a dvc member. It will save you hundreds of dollars. Maybe even up to 75%!!! Plus the benefits given to persons who stay on points are better.....
What part of Michigan are you from?

If you rent pts your room card will say DVC Member so you will be able to pool hop to every resort but YC/BC/BCV and AK. You will also be able to use the health clubs and get discounted rates at community hall activities at OKW & BWV and get free video rentals!!
I am a DVC member but have never rented out my points nor rented pts from others but many people do and post glowing reports about the transactions.

DeeP, you forgot to mention the multitude of dining and activity discounts......

That's a good point about only needing the one AP. We went for a week this year. When we figured the costs the AP didn't make sense for us because we got such a good rate anyway with a value season deal but next trip we probably will be going late Feb. which is regular season. Thanks for all the info... we will have to crunch the numbers and really think about what we want to do.:)
