BWV is on the shortlist for our next trip. I have heard the rooms are slighly run down is this true? Do the rooms have flat screen tv's and dvd players? TIA

We came back two weeks ago and stayed in a studio - 5053. The room was on the green which was great. No flat screen and no DVD player. Overall could use a litle "refreshing" but it wasn't terrible.

Refurbishment of rooms was supposed to begin in May. A few weeks ago there was a report of some standard view rooms being done. There was also a report a while back of reservations in BW view rooms in July being canceled because of some refurbishment (inside? outside?) I keep watching these boards for reports from DISers.
We have never had a "bad" room at BWV. Some rooms have looked a bit "tired" and I guess that is to be expected when there is virtually 100% occupancy every day. If a flat screen TV is important to you, you had best book AKV or BLT or THV. Whatever you choose, have fun! :cool1:

We stayed in a BWV Standard View room in early May. It had not been refurbished as far as I could tell and still had the older model TVs but the room looked great to me. It was very clean and in good repair. The only thing I noticed was that there were mismatched knobs on the drawer in the storage bench in the master bedroom and one sprung burner on the stove.

We stayed in a studio @ BWV in mid May. We had a pool view. Very nice! Only thing I noticed was the bathroom door lock was loose. The room was clean and up to standards as far as I was concerned.

The only negative was the pull out sofa bed. Very uncomfortable. I hope they change these out when they renovate the rooms.

We had new sofabeds in our villa last year, was it the regular pull out style or the kind with the "latch" on the back?

We just got home yesterday from a stay at BWV. We were in a one bedroom standard view #4083. The room was acceptable to us but there were some issues. The dryer did not work (took about 2 hrs to dry) and the jets in the whirlpool tub didn't work. The television was tiny (maybe a 19") and the pull out sofa uncomfortable. That said, we loved staying at the Boardwalk and would go back again. It would have been nice if it had already been refurbished but it wouldn't stop me from staying there.

We were in a standard studio #3113 in May and loved it. The room was in great condition and very clean except the sofa.
The TV was small but we did not go there to watch TV so no big deal.

No DCV studios have DVD players. All other rooms do.

We just got back on Monday from a stay at BWV (#4119 std view 1bdrm). We loved that the BWV room was bright and open feeling. It didn't feel "tired" to us at all and everything worked fine other than the DVD player that had a lollipop stuck in it ;) The tv's are the older boxy kind and there were dvds in the LR and bdrm. We did notice that there was some outside rehab going on. We really enjoyed our stay there...and hope you do too! :)

We stayed in studio last year top floor only thing we really noticed was water stains on the ceiling by the vent. Room was clean and comfy and sofa sleeper slept the 2 teens fine witht no complaints. We have a request this year for "Villiage Green" area studio for our week long 4th of July trip June 28-July 5th...Shawnpirate:

I was in a standard view 2nd floor 2 bedroom in March and it was just about iin perfect condition. None of us saw anything amiss, plus it wasn't noisy. We did watch some DVD's that we got from the community hall, it was a great vacation, perhaps a bit chilly.

We didn't use it but I believe there was a DVD player in our studio at SSR last weekend...:confused3 Why would they leave them out of studios and put them in other villa types? It's not like they're big like a washer & dryer...

We had a studio in April. Our room was a bit "tired" looking with peeling paint here and there, a chipped mirror, etc. However, overall, I didn't think it looked any worse for wear than the rooms we've had at VWL.

One thing about BWV studios that is strange - no coffee tables and no DVD players. I missed the coffee table.

Thanks everyone. We are just back from a fab stay at AKV and we really loved this resort. DH want to try the BW as it's so close to Epcot, he and my DS love the railway at Epcot so it's an excuse to spend more time there :rotfl:

I think we will give it a try.

Just a few more questions, are all the facilities within short walking distance and what's the best location to request for a studio TIA :)

At BWV studios are scattered around in all categories and locations.

You need to know what locations are part of your booking category... Boardwalk view for instance, you can request close to elevator or a particular floor.

Standard view, you could request a floor or closer to elevator.

Preferred view, you could request a floor, close to elevator, or close to quiet pool or main pool.

Walking distances: somewhat spread out from end to end. Most locations are a short distance to the main pool or lobby but from the far end it always feels like a long walk. It's a slightly longer walk to the boat dock, bakery, ice cream, etc.
If you want to ensure shortest walks, request close to elevator.

Remember, these hallways are in doors, so even with a longer walk, it's cool and dry :)

If you only visit Epcot and always valet park your car, then closer to the elevator yields less walking (not including the miles, literally, you'll walk at Epcot). However, if you're like most people and you actually visit all the parks (MK, AK, TL, BB, DTD) and use the buses and/or get your car from the self-park lot, closer to the elevator means more walking.
