The end of November will be our first time at BWV with a car.

When you stay there when do you use your car and when do you use disney transportation?? :earseek:

On our recent BWV stay we used our car for trips to Corornado for dinner, AK, Downtown Disney, grocery shopping, Dixie Landings for breakfast, All Stars for dinner, Florida Mall, Krispy Kreme Bakery...

We used our car to get to Animal Kingdom once. The other time we went to AK on Disney transportation and I regretted it. We also used our car to get to the GF for a character breakfast and to go to Downtown Disney and grocery shopping. Where we should have used our car was when we went to WLV and then to Downtown Disney one afternoon. We wasted a lot of time that day waiting for the DD buses at WL and at TTC. The parking lot at BW is not really that far to walk. We used valet too much and spent too much on the tips, etc. Have a great trip! I get to make my reservation for next Oct. on Tues. - can't wait!

We use the car for Downtown Disney, AK, food shopping.
Bus to MK
Walk to Epcot & MGM

Hi,
We used our car very little when we stayed at BWV last May...We drove to Celebration but used the WDW transport when available, mind you,you know what us Brits are like for walking and standing in line,so a few minutes wait for a bus or a half mile walk isn't really a problem for us!!

When we stayed at BWV last December, the only place we took a bus to was MK. Walked or boat to Epcot & MGM, drove to AK & DD. We also used the car for grocery shopping & the outlets. I can usually get a deal with National for around $120 for the week (Emerald Club, Disney Club discount, coupon for free day) so it isn't much more than TTC, we need transportation from the airport anyway. The only problem at BWV is it can be difficult to find a spot in self-park in the evening. People park there for Epcot, I noticed most of the cars did not have any WDW resort parking permit. I heard they were having non-resort people park across the street now, so hopefully this year it will be easier.

Isn't valet parking free at BWV for DVC members, when staying at DVC??? I know it was when we just stayed at VWL and when we went to BW one night.

Yes it is free at DVC resorts. We always use the cars for PS's that aren't within an easy commute or AK and MK. Also, Downtown, minigolf, resort seeing, pool hopping. I just like to have it handy.

if we are only going to Parks we use Disney transportation. You usually get closer to the entrance on their busses. If going to other resorts or DTD, etc., we use our own transportation, saves a lot of time, which is very valuable to us on the short trips that we take.

We walked to MGM and Epcot, we walked through Epcot and took the monorail to MK. The car was used for AK, grocery runs, outlet mall, Downtown Disney, resort hopping, airport and because we started the vacation at Vero for 2 days and then drove up to BW.

Being a racing fan I always like to take a ride over to Race Rock on International drive. And it is more conveinient for DTD. Just being able to have a car available when you need it is worth the small amount (if even that) over a limo.

Thanks for the reminder about free valet parking for DVC at a DVC resort. I'll have to remember that on our next trip---BWV in June!

Krispy Kremes?? Where? :D

This will be our first trip to the BWV, but we've always stayed at the Beach Club, and always rent a car. At this point, we only use the buses to get to MK, and the boats to get to MGM. Drive to AK, BB, DTD, other resorts. Sometimes, we'll all go to DTD and then DH will leave with the kids while I continue shopping, so I'll take the bus back, but I hate that bus.

A car is handy for DTD and the Belz Factory Outlet Mall (DW likes the Character Warehouse and Character PremEar) as well as getting to the PS that are not at Boardwalk, EPCOT, or MGM (we have PS for 11/15 at Chef Mickey's at Contemporary). It's also helpful if you want to visit another resort (WLV, AKL, etc.). I've found Disney bus service to be less than amazing in the past...much rather have the freedom of having a car. Enjoy!
