I just returned from my first DVC stay and fell in love with SSR! :cloud9: Really, I could happily vacation there every WDW trip from now on.

However... I'm booked at BWV for Dec. and now I'm worried. Part of what I loved about SSR was the freshness of the room - everything was clean, stain-free, and sparkling. I especially loved that the room was scent-free. No joke, my last stays at BWI, POR and POFQ have been marred by damp, mildewy rooms. Bleccch.

So, if you've stayed in both, how do you think SSR and BWV compare in the "clean & fresh" category? Am I worrying needlessly?

Location location location for us. BWV is ideal for it's location to 2 parks. I like the boardwalk view rooms. A nice cocktail with cheese, crackers and fruit on the balcony after the sun goes down. We have been members since 1994 and never had a bad room at any of the DVC resorts. SSR is new right now and after a couple of humid summers that new smell is going to be gone. In my opinion a bad day at Disney beats any good day at work.

Enjoy

We love SSR, too. Its our favorite resort. However, in December, we would probably stay at BWV or BCV because of location. In the winter, alot of places close earlier than Epcot, so its always our last stop of the day and walking out back to BWV is super easy. In March, the rooms at the BWV were very nice.

Stayed in a SSR studio for four nights in Feb. and a BWV studio for one night in July. Now that we have stayed in both, we would choose SSR over BWV. We prefer the decor of the resort, prefer the pools and also really love the spa/gym at SSR. DH likes the proximity to DTD and we both like that the SSR rooms are soundproofed. That's just us though. YMMV

Thanks for the responses! I think a BIG part of my trouble is the memory of our horrendous stay at BWI last Dec. I mean, really, really awful. First room: overwhleming smell of flowers covering mold and the outside wall was crumbling apart it was so wet. Replacement room #1: reeked of smoke. Repoacement room#2: still flowery/moldy smelling, though not so much as the first, but it was near the elveators and we heard banging all night long. For two asthmatics, it was a less-than-magical experience.

That said, I do love the location of BWV and the fact that the sofa beds seem to be the new kind gives me hope. I'm still nervous, though...

MrsNick - SSR's rooms are soundproofed? That explains so much! Our room was a door away from the elevators and stairs but we heard not a peep. :thumbsup2

We've stayed at SSR, HHI, BCV & BWV since we became members 2 years ago & I the only thing I had a problem with was the balcony area was really dirty at every place except SSR. I guess housekeeping doesn't pay any attention to how the balcony's look? I mean dirt all over the chairs, ledges (including gingerbread trim at BCV) & bird droppings. I had to clean the ledge at BWV 2 weeks ago just so I could put my drink down & feet up. That being said, SSR was only about a year old when we stayed there & I'm afraid that will end up being the same eventually.

I had no problems with any rooms inside except the pull-out bed at HHI & BWV were both broken & we had to call someone to open them, but somebody came & completely replaced the sofas the next day both times. Odd I know that it's happened to us twice now, but I swear they were broken when we got there & for some reason nobody complained. :confused3 I never noticed dampness mold or mildew at any Disney hotel. The only time that has happened to us is when we stayed at a cheap non-Disney DTD hotel & that's when we swore we'd never stay "off-site" again. If that happened at a Disney hotel for the prices they charge? I would be extremely upset!
