BWV view requests--how and when?

Hi everyone...I'm a newbie but have had fun reading everyone's hints for a while.

This question may belong on the DVC board, but can anyone tell me whether/how I can request a specific type of room ahead of time? We have traded in for two 2-br units at the BWV in November. Thanks in advance!

I'd contact who you made your reservation through and place your requests there. DVC resorts no longer accept requests that aren't on the individual reservation, ie faxes or individual calls to the resort.

BoardWalk view is a room category reserved by DVC members. With a cash rental, the room view is standard. Trades would probably be Pool or Canal view.

There aren't very many 2BR units at the BWV with BW views, and they are all reserved well in advance by members. Like the previous poster said, DVC resorts will ignore faxes or individual phone calls having to do with room assignments/preferences.

I rented points from a DVC'er for this November. I am booked in a standard studio. What are the views I am most likely to get? Is there a resort map anywhere that has room numbers that I could look at?

Here is the part that burns me up. I booked back in May and was lucky to get a studio. My brother decided at the end of July he wanted to go and stay at the same resort. The same DVC'er was able to book a preferred view one-bedroom for him. Yesterday she got a confirmation that he has a Boardwalk view. It is hard enough getting him to book early enough to stay at the same place and have a decent touring plan. This might make him think he doesn't have to hurry to get a great room next time. I am going to have to make sure he knows he got VERY lucky.

Only about 20% of the units at BWV are standard view and go first because people want to save the points. If you wanted a deal, you got it with a standard view. The remaining 80% of the units are considered preferred view and go last, after the standard view because they cost more points. Your brother is probably paying more for his preferred view than you are for your standard view since he needed more points.

The standard views sometimes offer a view of Illuminations. You may be lucky.

Thanks everyone...

I'm realistic enough to guess that we'll probably get a pool or canal view, since most of the rooms have that view category. Happily that's what I'm hoping for, since I've read they will be a little quieter!

My real concern is that I'm a little phobic about being on lower floors--I'd prefer 3rd floor or higher. Any feelings about how accommodating the front desk will be? We are arriving a few days before our BWV week and will stop by the front desk to discuss it.

I'm so excited...haven't been back to WDW in a few years and haven't yet stayed at a DVC property. Oh boy!
