Just returned from 3 night at our home, BWV, and 3 nites at Vero Beach. Had a 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom at each with our 4 adorable grandkids, 2 DSs and 2 very DDILs. At BWV we had standard views and were at the opposite end of the building from the elevators. Because both rooms were near each other (actually one above the other) it was easy to get between rooms so we were very pleased. One room was ready when we arrived around 2:00 so we had all the luggage and food delivered there. When the other room opened up (around 4:00) we just moved the necessary items.
DH and I went over to Saratoga Springs to check it out. VERY NICE!! The granite countertops really make it look elegant and the Grand Villa is truly breathtaking. In addition to having carpeting throughout (a huge improvement over the BWV Grand Villas in MHO), the dining area is seperated from the living area which really looks more like a home. The ice cream parlor was a nice treat.
Also drove around OKW. Certainly is a different feel than Boardwalk. I'm happy with the Boardwalk activity, but I can see why those who want a quieter pace would love it.
The entertainers on the boardwalk were fun, as usual. When it was raining outside they entertained in the BW lobby.
The rest of the family did several days in the parks, but DH and I only went to MGM one day and then had dinner in Epcot that night (with the whole family). This was our first time at Tower of Terror and the Rock and Roll Roller Coaster. Definitely will do them again. We used fast passes and had very short waits. We also went to Who Wants to be a Millionaire and had fun there.
We ate one dinner at Big River. I know many don't like this restaurant, but we have enjoyed all of our meals there.
Our only disappointment on the trip was the Magical Fireworks Voyage. It was pouring rain so the cruise was cancelled. We just spent about an hour on the 4th floor of the Contemporary waiting for the fireworks. Unfortunately the windows were so steamed up you couldn't see. So basically we missed the cruise and missed the fireworks. Very expensive for very little.
BUT everything else was great.
We truly enjoyed Vero Beach. Had fun in the ocean and the beach was very pretty and great for building sand castles. The pool with its slide and the baby play area with the pirate ship were both big hits with the grandkids. We had very nice meals at Shutters. We even had a "pixie dust" experience. Midway throught dinner our 4 year old Granddaugher mentioned to her parents that she'd wanted a strawberry. Although they told her there weren't any strawberries, a beautifully sliced strawberry "magically" appeared in a few moments. We didn't even realize our waitress had heard the comment and we were all very impressed. The rooms at VB are very nice and spacious. We also liked having the extra VCR in the studio portion. Wish they'd add DVD/VCRs to each bedroom in all DVC units.
We are happy to be home and looking forward to our next visit to DW in December with friends.
