BWV standard view???

I've only stayed at the BWV with the Lunar pool view, with the last time basically the view of a tree and barely any pool view. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to save the points for a PV and request standard view next time? Are there standard view studios somewhat near the elevator? That's one reason we like the Lunar pool view - the convenience of being close to the elevator.

Is there a good area to request for a standard view studio? I'll be making the ressie at 11 months out, so hopefully we can even get SV. Or should I get use the extra points for a PV and maybe see if we can get Boardwalk view for something different? Or are these rooms really far from an elevator? Any suggestions?

Most of the standard view rooms look out over the entrance way where the cars pull up to the front of the BWV. Many of the standard rooms on the far end near the tennis courts are as far away from the elevators as any in the resort. Some are right next to the elevators however. It is the luck of the draw (and luck for me would be far from the elevators, we love the far end).

We love the standard view and if you are making reservations at the 11 month mark, you shouldn't have a problem getting one.

Whatever you reserve, request close to the elevators when making the reservation.

We have only stayed at BWV once, we had 4 different SV rooms and 1 PV room in our party. None of them were very far from the elevator, they were located at a bend in the hallway, around the corner from the recycle/trash room. Three were dedicated studios. Our 2 bedroom was a bit further down. The PV studio was in the other direction, but it mostly had a view of the ladderwork of the slide, not a particularly good view. However we had booked that sort of last minute, 2 months and we were happy that we had the same floor and even the same general area as the others.

At 11 months out, I have booked the Boardwalk view, but was able to change that ressie to the BCV, that's the trip coming up. If I know I want to stay in the BWV, I must admit, I would either want the Boardwalk view or the SV to save points. I guess it depends on my point count.

If you are going to reserve at the 11 month mark, you shouldn't have a problem getting either standard view or Boardwalk view. If you haven't tried a Boardwalk view yet, my advice is to go with the BW view for this trip. Everyone should try it at least once if they can!

No matter which you reserve, request close to the elevators if that is important to you. (We don't care for the rooms close to the elevators because there is more "hallway" noise/traffic with those rooms. We find the stairways to be very convenient, but we usually do not travel with strollers, wheelchairs, ecvs or anyone who is mobility -imparied, either).

We had a standard view 2BR a few years ago. It overlooked the front entrance, where the portico was. I actually liked the view, because it was interesting to watch the comings and goings of the front entrance. And it was pretty at night with the lights on.

We are in a PV 2BR in October, so I'll beinterested to see where we end up.

I recently had a supposed Pool view.
A friend of mine had a standard view at the same time.
The standard view was so much better than the view I had.
There was so much green and beauty between the balcony and the parking lot, that it was quite pleasant to look at.

My pool view was more often a view of a maintenance vehicle, and bicycle rack.
I did like the idea that I could walk out my back door to the hot tub.

I think that a re-evaluation of room views and point costs (based on those views) is needed.
(I think they can do this as long as the total sum of points, for the full resort, during a 1 year window, does not change).

I didn't think that I cared for being close to the elevator either.
However, I never would have guessed that the walk from the lobby to my room would be the equivalent of multiple city blocks.
As I was carrying (not rolling) my bags, I would look down the hall, and see the end. I would see the sign, with the room numbers, and noting that my room was the highest number shown, expected I would find my room at the end of the hall. However, when I got to the end of the first hall, I did not find my room, but instead I found another long hall. Again my number was the highest number on the sign pointing down that hall, so I expected that my room would be at the end of that hall. What do you think I found at the end of that hall, it was not my room.

We walked to Epcot, and to MGM. I know that these walks were longer then the walk to my room (from the lobby), but they were very much within my expectations, so these walks didn't bother me.

I may have had the closest room to MGM.

We always stay in STD 2BRs (which means it could also be a studio in part). We've learned to request 'bus-stop view' because we think it puts us in a great location. Down towards the tennis court end there's a stairwell that's right near those STD-view rooms.....if you go out the back, you end up at the "Quiet Pool/Community Hal"....if you go out the driveway side, you end up on a short sidewalk to the bus stop/parking lot. It is a ways from the elevator/lobby, but the bonus is there's very little foot traffic/noise down that far. Although we refer to it as the 'bus stop view', we usually have a view of the pond.....the parking lot is further off. I'll take my 'bus stop view' and two extra nights anytime!
