I noticed a big difference in point cost between standard and preferred views at BWV. I'm spoiled because I live at the Jersey Shore, so view isn't as important as location. Are there any other differences between the rooms other than the view?

We have narrowed down our choices from BWV 2br standard or OKW 2 bdr. I would probably enjoy okw, but for a 13 and 15 yr old, BWV seems the way to go...

HELP!

The rooms are identical, only the view is different. The standard view rooms do not have a view of the Boardwalk.

Not all preferred views can see the Boardwalk either. Most have views of the canal to MGM or one of the pools. I think if you can see water, it's a preferred view. The standard views are usually of the BW parking lot towards Epcot. Some can even see the high fireworks from Illuminations.

We usually get a standard and I love our views of the front of the building, plus we've gotten the views of the little canal out front. It was very peaceful to sit out on the balcony, yes even with the car traffic...

Most of the time we're down "in the view" instead of looking at the view. I prefer to save our points so we can spend more time "in the view".

We stayed in a preferred view room (overlooking the quiet pool) once, but ever since we've requested standard views. Right now my priority is stretching the amount of points we have, so I'd much rather look out at the entrance (or tennis courts) and maybe be able to add an extra day to our trip. With the exception of the view, the rooms are all exactly the same.

Keep in mind there are significantly fewer standard view rooms than preferred, so you'll need to call as close to the 7 or 11 month mark (depending on where your home resort is) as possible.

Good luck deciding. We haven't stayed at OKW yet but I look forward to it someday. :)

I like the standard view, and you cant beat the point value, especially when compared with vwl, which I love, but our view was very generic for the points. Keep in mind that your best chance of getting a standard view at bwv is at the 11 month window. It might be tough to get at the 7 month window because I think only 20% of rooms are standard view.

We enjoy the standard view rooms. They're sometimes closer to the stairs by the community hall, quiet pool, and the parking. In Oct., we were able to watch a night shuttle launch from our room, and we had a nice view of the fireworks at EPCOT. The worst view we ever had, was right by the front entrance, but the plus was we were right by the elevator, and a short walk to everything on the boardwalk.

We reserved a standard view studio last December but when we arrived we were kicked up to a preferred view. It was the top floor & directly across from the Epcot ball. A beautiful view that we enjoyed every night but I still don't think I would use my points for the view.

I called for September reservations right at the 7 month mark for a standard view 2 bedroom, but only preferred view was available. They put us on a wait list and within 2 weeks called to say the standard view was available. I've found through calling early and using the wait list I usually am able to get what I want.

We just stayed in a beautiful standard view one bedroom. We were on ground floor and had a lovely azalea hedge surrounding our two patio doors. We looked out directly at the canal and fountain. We also could see some of the Illuminations fireworks. Only drawback - it was a very long walk from the lobby, but I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Stayed in both. As Peter pointed out, we too had a sv studio near the elevator and we spent very little time on the patio as we did not really like the location. It was TOO close to the bell service and the view was more limited, but hey, we were 2 rooms from the elevator. Also had a million dollar view above Wyland galleries last May and it was worth every point, esp. as our first visit "home". Trip in between we had a sv, 4th floor, almost in the middle and it was a very good spot. We have a PV ressie in Oct. so I hope it again is worth the points.

We like the pv. When we come home from the parks we enjoy sitting on the deck and just unwind.
