We are staying at BWV in Oct and have a standard view booked. We really aren't in the room that much and the view isn't a huge deal I was just wondering what to expect. Are we gonna be looking at dumpsters and parking lots. I requested to be close to the elevators.....Thanks

We stayed in a standard view one bedroom last October and we had a view of the main entrance and the lawn and the side of the Boardwalk Hotel that looks out over the main entrance. Over the top of the BW Hotel was a view at night of Epcots fireworks - of course you couldn't see all of Illuminations, just the high fireworks, but they were very enjoyable and something I wasn't really thinking about till I saw them. You could also hear a bit of the music. You could see Spaceship Earth and also a bit of France. I was on the third floor in the 'middle' building on this wing. We self parked and would use the stairs to go to the parking lot - much closer then going out the front of the building. If we were going to the BW area, the elevators were about 2 'halls' from us. I found it very convenient and hope I get the same unit or area next visit.
As far as dumpsters and parking lots, I don't know where the BW keeps their dumpsters! I've never seen them or heard of that view there. Parking lot - yes. We could almost tell which car was ours, but it is distant and across the little canal and surrounded by greenery - looks very nice to me. Even the traffic coming up around the circle at the BW entrance was entertaining - not annoying, plus you got to watch the valets run for the cars in the morning if you were still having coffee on the balcony - some of us take very little to entertain, lol!

Nope - no dumpsters, LOL. Standard view rroms overlook the resort entrance and the driveway leading up to it. There is quite a bit of lawn / landscaping / flowers between the villa building and the driveway. You will see the resort bus stop and parking lots in the distance, but you may also see the rooftops of France (in EPCOT's World Showcase). Some standard view rooms have a view of the higher level IllumiNations fireworks from the balcony. However, those rooms are not close to the elevators.

IMHO, standard view rooms at the BWV are the best DVC bargain around.

Best wishes -

hi: I agree with CarolMN; standard views are a treat! We've had several different standard views over the years and were never unhappy with them. It will be fine. Have fun!

I agree as well. We've only stayed standard and always thought we had a beautiful view.

Stayed in 3133 (studio) in OCTOBER Long walk from elevators. End building closet to MGM. Found shorter way to bus stop, buy using stairs.

Thanks guys. My Best Friend who is going with us is having some knee problems and we prefer not to use the stairs if we don't have to. That's why we asked to be close to the elevator. I'm getting real excited  October is just so far away :guilty: Maybe I should take a planning break befoe I explode.

We have also had several standard views over the years and prefer them to save the points. They have all been overlooking the front entrance.

We were in a standard view 1 br in April 2005, 3121. It was almost as far from the elevator as you could be, but had a great balcony stretching from br to living room, with view of high Illuminations. We, too, ended up using the stairs from parking lot and to go to MGM -- much faster. This was a great room for us as we didn't have anyone who needed to be close to the elevators. The view was mostly the canal and bridge to parking lot.

We also had a view of the front entrance and could see some of Epcots fireworks. Other then that it was very quiet. We were ob the 2nd floor.

If you don't mind me asking, do most people now book std view on a daily basis now? I booked at bwv right at the 11 mo window for oct and had to go pref view. I am on a wl for std v so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Thanks,

No experience with BWV Standard View. Have only stayed at BW with BW View and its too good to risk it.

We just returned Friday from a 6 night stay in a standard view 1 BR. We were in 3117 and my sister was right next door in 3119. While the room overlooked the main entrance road, it also overlooked the pond in front, and we had fantastic views of the Illuninations fireworks every night. Even though the walk from the elevator was long, we were very close to the end of the building, and could just hop downstairs and walk across the street to the bus stop, or go out the back door to the quiet pool or the main pool. We made it to MGM walking with some small children in 10 minutes. We'd definately get a standard view room again.

Thanks,

I didn't book day by day, but for October I did book a standard view 2 bedroom and studio as soon as the last check out day passed at 11 months. 2 weeks into our home period advantage, I tried to get another SV studio for Oct. 22nd and 23rd and I had to waitlist for Sunday. It did come through in about a month, I didn't book the preferred view because I was booking with borrowed points, and couldn't use them if the waitlist did come through. I hope your waitlist comes through for you!

IMHO, you need to book day by day if you want standard view for anytime in October, November or December, Spring Break time and any Holiday week. That doesn't mean a waitlist won't come through (hope yours does and the odds are in your favor), but it does mean that there are plenty of BWV owners who prefer the standard view rooms and are willing to call day by day to get them so that they don't have to chance the waitlist (as you do).

Best wishes -
