Why is there a pool view option for a standard view? Are room request options just general for all views?

The online check-in was designed for the hotels, not DVC, so many of the options don't apply. You found a good example - there isn't a pool view for standard view villas at the BWV. Those overlook the front entrance or the driveway leading up to it or the tennis courts or parking lots.

FWIW, you almost always better off to make your requests through MS and then completely skip the online section for requests. If you check anything on the request section of on line check-ib, it will overwrite anything you may have requested through MS.

Thank you! Are there any room requests that I should ask for with a standard view through MS?

Ground level can mean you don't need to use the elevator or stairs to get to the boats or bus (if you exit the corner instead of the lobby), which was nice with a stroller.

Some high floor rooms near the entrance can see the tops of Illuminations over BWI

I thought close to the elevator/lobby, lower floor could be noisy luggage carts early in the morning. But I'm not sure.

The only safe request tends to be high floor. Even if you are put near elevator, it's high enough up to be not as noisey if near luggage area. There are not enough views to really request anything. If you are near elevator=near luggage area. Far away from luggage area=not near the only elevator. Personally I would rather just be in a dedicated room (except 2 bedrooms, since there are no dedicated 2 bedrooms). I find lock offs tend to be noisey. High floor is still my #1 request, which is generally the only request I've ever gotten.

We like upper floor across from the bus stop. Assuming everyone in your party can use the stairs, that's a very convenient location - close to walkway to DHS, just across the street from the bus stop and close to the Community Hall, leisure pool & hot tub. If you are lucky, you will even have a view of the higher level fireworks from IllumiNations. (Some rooms in this area have the view blocked by a tree) These rooms are convenient for parking and there is plenty of nice landscaping between the building and the driveways / parking lots. These rooms are NOT close to the elevators or lobby, though, so keep that in mind if anyone has trouble with stairs or if you travel with ECVs, wheelchairs or strollers.

Yep, indeed a great location. I've requested this area on my last 10-15 stays at BWV over the last couple of years and have yet to get it. I keep trying, but so far I can't get past the ice machines where you bare to the left. I've got 2 more BWV stays this year, so maybe next time. However the trees are getting so tall now, even the fourth floor view can be obstructed.

I would ask for a high floor but near the lifts - its much lighter higher up and also if your near the lift then potentially there isn't the long walk down to the end of the corridoors for your room as there is only one sett of lifts which is close to the lobby. If you do go for high floors remember you may have to use the stairs - but all the rooms are rather pleasant. Depends on how long you will be staying in the room.

What does "MS" stand for? Besides high floor, what are the other Standard room options? Thank you!

It stands for Member Services :)

The other options are things like; Lower Level, Near Elevator etc.
With the Standard Studio Views there in the building nearest the car park and overlooking the water landscaping of the grounds at the front of Boardwalk entrance- also looking towards the bus stops and the entrance to the hotel Lobby :)

Standard Views are all along one hallway. There are five floors. The first floor is ground floor for the pool and the DHS/Epcot walkway, the second floor is where the lobby is and the ground floor for the front of the building and the bus stop.

From there its where you want to be along the hallway. Close to the lobby means you are close to the lobby, its easy to get to the bus stop and the elevators (important if you have a stroller), but the risk is that you'll hear the luggage carts for Magical Express. Farther from the lobby - less risk of luggage carts, but you'd better be willing to take some stairs, or have a long walk down the hallway. The worst combination is possibly high floor at the end of the hall with someone who can't take multiple flights of stairs (out of shape, have a stroller), though those rooms are prized by people who can do five flights.

My favorite rooms actually split the difference. I like middle. I can do three flights of stairs, but five is tough. I'm close enough to the elevators for when I'm too tired to do stairs, close enough to the lobby that I don't have the endless trudge down the hall at the end of the night.

Keep in mind that requests are just requests. In fifteen years we've had a request met ONCE at the Boardwalk. Although, I don't always bother to make them since they don't seem to bother to take them into consideration for me.

MS is Member Services.

IMO, there really aren't many requests you need to make for standard view other than

higher / lower floor

near bus stop or near lobby / elevator (convenient if you are traveling with strollers, ECVs, wheelchairs or anyone who cannot easily use the stairways).

I do not recall the options given for online check-in as I always skip that section.

Are you asking as someone renting from Disney? Or as someone using DVC points as an owner or renter?
