I was wondering what a BWV standard view could be? Is it strickly those rooms looking out towards the front of the resort (parking lot), or are there other standard views as well?

What is a view of the quiet pool considered to be?

How about the view looking toward the Swan?

If anyone has any pictures they could post of a BWV standard view, that would be great! :thumbsup2

The other views you are talking about are preferred views.

Be aware that BW Standard View is about 20% of the resort and is very popular. It generally books quickly compared to preferred view (non-Boardwalk) rooms. And often books quicker than Boardwalk View rooms.

Thanks Crisi for clearing that up for me. I always wondered what those other views were considered there.

I do remember the BWV standard view rooms being very popular and booking up fast due to the lower point requirements and great value. :thumbsup2

What are the point requirements for Boardwalk view rooms? I didn't see that in the point chart. Or is it the same as preferred view?

Same as preferred view (you can see why standard view and Boardwalk view - also about 20% of the resort - become so popular).

We like standard view a lot, and generally book that. We are BWV Owners who always plan 11 months out. When we bring guests, we tend to book Boardwalk view. We've only had a preferred view room once - a room booked late (after the seven month window opened). But I always do my planning assuming we will need more points - even when I'm booking eleven months out. If we get the value of the standard view, that is great....but if we don't, I have plan B in hand. (We often travel during F&W and I generally would consider "walking" a reservation or formerly calling day by day - so its possible even at eleven months to need plan B).

The vast majority of Standard View rooms have darn good views - yes, its the drive, but that drive is a pretty nice piece of landscaping in and of itself. It isn't a huge shopping center like parking lot.

Here is a great graphic provided by Granny:

See the end of the green line at the bottom of the Granny photo?

Go forward about 3 rooms, and that's the standard view 1 bedroom that we had recently. Here's the view from the room:

That's actually not a bad view at all. It's kind of pretty with the water and trees. It looks like the other standard view rooms (the rooms facing the driveway) would have a resort view since they are looking towards the BWI side?

Our room was right at the end of the green line but 2nd floor so the trees were in our face

Long hallway to get there right Best Aunt

We had a room on a high floor right across from the bus stop. DS4 loved watching the buses pull in and out all day and we also had a limited view of the Illuminations fireworks.

Our last standard view was just before where the green line turns the "corner" and it faced out towards BWI; we could see pretty well over to BWI but there are some trees so the view isn't entirely clear. We really liked this location as the lawn area is rather wide at that point and the canal is visible to the right. Also, there is stairway located here that is more convenient to use than going back to lobby elevators if going to parking/bus stop and to villa's pool/community hall.

:goodvibes

LOL, I always hear about those loooooooooong hallways at the BWV. Even on the Disneyland boards it gets mentioned from time to time (because the GCH also has some long hallways, and then BWV is often mentioned as a comparison, and then the "Once we had a room at the BWV that was all the way at the end of......" stories are told.

Odd that they didn't put more elevators in other locations throughout the building so people wouldn't have a 5+ minute walk to their room from the lobby elevators. I'm sure we'll utilize the closest set of stairs if they are more convenient than the elevators. Good idea!

Still, a beautiful resort that we would love to stay at, and the long hallways don't really bother me.....unless I was all alone and it was creepy quiet or something.

They'd still have long walks - the lobby is in that central area - the Villas is one "wing" and the Inn is the other. There isn't a good place to put more elevators that wouldn't have people traipsing down the hallways past rooms to get to them.

And the hallways aren't long compared to Animal Kingdom Lodge. And I remember some long walks at Wilderness Lodge. And walking from the far units at SSR to the main theme pool isn't exact a quick run.

are standard rooms noisy? Since you are near the busestop kind of. Do they wake you up, if you like to sleep in , and you happen to be on the first floor?

we have a standard room view coming up, and i'm wondering if i should request an upper floor?

Are there any areas for a preferred view that are better than others. We have a preferred view or garden/pool view for Oct. and we have never stayed here before. I like top floor and not next to an elevator, but not too far from one.

We've had several SV rooms at BWV and I will say that if you get one near the elevators (top of the green line in the graphic), you can get significant noise from people pulling up to the registration area. It also catches noise from the ME cages getting banged around a bit. That was really the only noisy DVC room we've ever had and even so it really wasn't that big of a deal.

More likely to wake you up in the morning would be the caretakers with the gas weed eaters or lawn mowers. But they generally don't start really early.

On the 3rd floor - there was no noise at all from outside. The only noise was from the lady in the next room -- she, um, seemed to be having a good time.
