We are currently awaiting the ROFR process on a 250 point BWV contract (any pixie dust welcome! :wizard:). I figure if all goes well we might be in Disney's system by mid to late July, since we got the paperwork in on 6/2.

Anyway, we would like to book a 2 bedroom at BWV for spring break next March. I adore the idea of the Boardwalk view, but we might try for the standard view since it is a significant point savings that would more easily allow another family trip in 2011 plus a trip to F&W for me and DH. :lovestruc. Besides, the standard view at the Boardwalk still strikes me as pretty nice compared to a lot of places!

So, what are the chances of getting the standard view 8 months out? How about the Boardwalk view? I would imagine it's a pretty busy time at Disney, but Easter is late next year which could help. Any other advice is welcome, we can't wait to go home!

Chances will be slim for standard view and boardwalk view. Standards are usually gone by the 10 month mark .. but you never know until you try .. there are some dates that standards are gone within the first day, as there aren't that many standard villas. Boardwalk views also go quickly, as boardwalk and water view are the same amount of points, so everyone asks for Boardwalk view first.

Good luck with your contract and making your reservations!

At 10 months, I think you'll be able to get standard view for March. :wizard:

I once got a standard view 1 bedroom at 7 months for the end of April. Since Easter is in late April next year, you might still have a chance at 8 months for March.

I have struck out the past 2 times trying at 7 months out..

I booked at 9 months out and I am still waiting for 2 days to come through. Good luck, you never know.

Thank you! We'll see what happens, first things first, so we need to get through the ROFR period. We'll be happy with whatever we get: we had the preferred pool/garden view last month (rented points in a studio, room 4110) and I thought it was a fantastic view of the ToT over the BWV quiet pool. Standard would be nice in that it saves points though.

Are there any floorplans floating around so you can get an idea of how the rooms are distributed? What are the advantages of the dedicated 2BR vs. the lockoff? We expect to be traveling with an older friend, so we'd like her to have a room to retreat into if the kids become too much for her. :rotfl: I'm assuming she'd get that either way.

I tried recently to get last January (a slow time of year) at the 8 month window and one day was not available so couldn't get it. I'm waiting for my 7 month window to open now to see what is available. Normally mid to late January is quiet and so was a little surprised that a standard view studio was not available. I booked my May 2011 reservation last week when my 11 month window openned as I didn't want to take a chance next spring with a late Easter break.

I've been looking for a floorplan for years, never seen one.

There are no dedicated 2 bedrooms at BWV. All are lockoffs.

you are going during Spring break - it is pretty expensive point wise - so it just depends. that say really think even at 8 months you have a chance at standard view.

there are no dedicated 2-br at BWV. only 1-bedroom and studios. so you don't have a choice it will be a lock off.

now you also need to be considering which other DVC resorts you will take if you can't get BWV. if will probably be OKW, ssr or AKV.

here a map of bwv

I snagged a 1 BR std. at 7 months for January. So it is possible. You won't know til you try. Good luck!:wizard: :flower3:

All I can say is... you never know! :wizard: Last December we booked a vacay on a whim and got BWV for 4 nites a week before Christmas! Guess someone just cancelled! Good Luck!

Even booking eleven months out, we do our point planning both ways (we are often travelling during F&W when even eleven months out you can have some problems with standard view). If we get standard view, we generally grab it - the views are fine and it stretches our points. If we don't, we get Boardwalk view if its available. (The exception, when we bring 'special guests' - like our parents, we book Boardwalk out of the gate). If that isn't available (once, when we booked only six months out) we get preferred view.

Sometimes people get incredibly lucky. Sometimes rooms that "should" have availability don't. Always have an acceptable backup plan or two in place.
