Hi! We are considering the 2 bedroom villa for our trip next summer. I have always loved the location but after viewing some 2 bedroom villa tours on YouTube, I felt like the rooms seemed outdated and tired. Any thoughts? Trying to decide if we should spend more $$ and stay at another DVC resort.

They were just renovated about four years ago. So don't plan on any renovations for several more years (like ten). They are themed after Grandma's cottage at the NE coast. But the bedspreads have been replaced with triple sheeting.

The biggest pro for BWV is the location. Walk or boat to both Epcot & DHS. The boardwalk views are amazing (only available with points). The room decorating is OK, most of the DVC's do not have as elaborate decorating as the other deluxes.

Well it's good to know they aren't in need of a renovations. As for grandmas cottage I'd say they achieved that theme. Haha.

I was going to be renting points but not sure if BWV is the one just yet. Can't beat the location though!
Thanks!!!

I didn't really like the rooms at BWV because they seemed outdated. I guess I just don't like the theme in general. The location is great though, it's worth it to stay there at least once :thumbsup2

I don't know why they would be "outdated". There were complaints that it was one of the last to get flat screen TV's, so I would call old model TV's as "outdated" but that was changed during the full renovation in 2009/2010. The theme is the shore so I don't know what they could do to make it more "up to date". Keep in mind the cost of DVC resort renovations is paid through member dues, so they are not going to get renovated more often.

Thanks for all of your thoughts!
I live close to the Jersey Shore and the design of those rooms is not what anyone would want their shore house to look like. I guess that's why some if us have described it as outdated since it reminds me of my grandmothers condo.

I love the feel of BWV. I find the rooms to be lovely and spotless. Definitely not luxurious but the high ceilings and cozy theme make up for it. Not to mention the boardwalk at your fingertips with the 1940s music playing. It transforms you to another era. Love BWV.

You say "spend more" are you counting on getting the standard view villas?

Yes when I say spend more I just mean at another DVC property that might be more appealing.
I'm still not sure your complete focus but the standard view units are tough to get. Only BLT, some AKV and GF will be more than non standard view BWV. BCV & VWL will be roughly the same and OKW/SSR less. So realistically you don't necessarily need to spend more to get good options.

I think most of the DVC rooms have an old fashioned look. BLT is what I call "early George Jetson", a Contemporary look, not crazy about it. VGF has the most updated look but it is the most expensive points wise.

We are looking at the BW for next march. I have read alot of bad reviews lately on the purchasing board about BW being run down. Wanting to stay in the epcot resorts and BW being less points, besides the pools, is there that much difference between the BC and BW as far as upkeep?

I think BWV is old and run down. I think anyone wanting to stay there is crazy. I would booked at another DVC.
Thank You :bitelip:

Leaves more for us:goodvibes

I think BWV is in line with the other 2042 resorts. When you say less points I assume you mean the standard view (as above) but the chances of getting that for less than 11 months out for march is pretty slim.

I meant less points in comparison to the same accommodations as BC:thumbsup2
But other than the standard view, it really isn't. There are a few points different here and there brought about by the realities of the reallocation a few years ago but other than standard view, nothing to speak of.

The boardwalk views are amazing (only available with points).

Not all BW views are amazing. I had a room last summer with balcony under the cut out above Big River. Only access to balcony was via a door behind a chair in the bedroom.

Actually I had that room once too. Not my favorite but it still was a good view. My friend was sleeping in the living room, she was disappointed not having a balcony from the living room.

My biggest fear is getting one of the first floor next Jellyrolls, the former DVC models. Those would not be amazing.
