We will be making reservations at Boardwalk Villas. We only want to have a Standard View Studio.

Our 2.5 year old daughter is "handicapped" but does not use a wheelchair. (She uses her stroller instead). We really need a bathtub. But - I hear that the hallways are very long and it takes a long time to waklk to the elevators. We would like to avoid this long haul - especially if she decides to walk - which takes quite a bit of time.

My guess is that if I tell them my situation that I could at least request a room close to the elevators or on the first floor.

I read something about the first floor rooms have outside key access? Can anyone describe this?

If we do get a room close to the elevators - what is our standard view likely to be of.

If we are close to the elevator - does this put us closer to the lobby and pool area as well?

Thanks!

A standard room close to the elevator would have a view of the valet area where you drop off your car. As you go farther down the hall, you will be across from the bus stop with an Illuminations view especially on upper floors, farther down you will be over the pond (still with an Illuminations view) and then all the way at the end is a view of the tennis courts & MGM. There is a key entrance on the first floor near the pool (it's usually unlocked during day hours) and near the parking lot. The lobby is on the second floor, so those rooms close to the elevator would be closest to the lobby. You have to either take the steps or elevator up to the lobby from the Boardwalk. The driveway is uphill, so that entrance takes you straight into the lobby. I think someone posted that there are no handicapped standard view rooms, so you should get a room with a regular tub.

We had one of the 1st floor studios and loved it. (If I knew than what I know now, I could tell you the room number:( We were about 5 rooms to the exit to the valet/bus area. It was terrific with a stroller and very convienient IMHO.

Good luck

Just had rooms 1072 & 1070 studios. 1070 is a handicap room with roll in shower. Both patios look out to pool but actually the walk behind Leaping Horse Libations. You can walk thru the mulch to the pool or sidewalks. It is only 2-3 rooms from elevators and across the hall from laundry. We thought it was great location and these are standard views.

Those rooms are preferred view. Standard views overlook the hotel entrance and driveway leading up to the entrance. You were upgraded because of the rehab work. Nearly all of the standard view rooms are out of service right now due to that rehab project.

lab01 - my advice is to request a room near the elevators (unless you would be comfortable carrying your daughter and her stoller up and down the stairs). Even if you have a first floor room, you can't really use the patio doors as a door - if I recall correctly, you can't lock/unlock them from the outside. I'm sure you wouldn't want to leave for the day with your patio doors unlocked. If you are near the elevators, it won't matter what floor you are on. Enjoy the trip!

My parents had the first standard studio room on the 3rd floor as you exit the elevators. They had a view of the valet drop off. They enjoyed it because they liked people watching. We were quite a bit farther down, also in a standard. Our view was still of the driveway and bus stop. While we could see Illuminations, it was more of a walk down the hall.
