Has anyone had problems with the housekeeping in the BWV. Our last stay the room was dirty (hair in the bathroom, crumbs on the carpet, kitchen floor dirty). I am not sure whether I want to stay there on our next trip if it's a recurrent issue. Hopefully it was just a bad day for a new housekeeper. Anyone have similar experiences?

Yes, we quite often get a room with crumbs and hair. Those two items seem to magically reappear in DVC rooms.
That said, we have never stayed at BWV, so it can happen in any of the resorts.
We stopped calling housekeeping about such things several years ago, and now my wife just starts cleaning upon arrival.

Walt would roll over in his grave..

The cleaning issue is hit or miss and it exists at all resorts. The more times that you check in, the greater the chances of getting a room that needs more attention.

cleaning at boardwalk is very bad,,we own at boardwalk and have been going there 10 years,,,i bring my own cleaning stuff,,,and always use the room vacuum,,,no one cares in housekeeping,,,they make us wait until 5 pm for the room every year,,,"the manager has to sign off on the room",,,,my one bedroom is always cleaner when we leave,,,the kitchen floor is always sticky,,hair in shower is a given,,i stopped complaining and now clean myself,,,scrubbing bubbles for shower and bleach for floors,,,

Wow, I was feeling guilty for not calling and complaining that there were cobwebs all over the inside of the sliding balcony door of our BLT studio in March. And now I hear that people actually clean their villas versus calling and complaining because no one comes and clean the sticky, crumb and hairy floors. Yuck! I have to admit that cleaning the room before I use it was not something I plan for.

Wow! I would be writing a letter to member satisfaction with photos every time that happened to me! I hope that some of you are as well even if you are cleaning it yourself!

very rarely have we had to call b/c a room wasn't clean (we go 2-3x a year), mostly at the BWVs.
last time was about 2 years ago, when there was noticable mold on the walls in the bathroom. had to call twice, and mousekeeping cleaned it late on the 1st day.
a few years ago at okw, we had quite a bit of crumbs in the LR and kitchen (1 bdrm), and hairbands, broken cookies, etc throughout the villa. we vacuumed it ourselves, but wound up with a lot of ants in the LR that would not leave (on sofa and small table). we called over 6 times, mousekeeping said they would come but never did (we spoke to the head of mousekeeping). we finally went out and bought ant spray ourselves, and just sprayed the heck out of the place :headache: it did work though.
non-dvc, we had a wasp nest on our AKL balcony once - that was taken care of within 2 hours. at the poly, we were put a "uninhabitable" room -loads of thick, black mold covering the vents, and along the ceiling (along with a dumpster on our patio). my asthma kicked in quickly (blue lips), but we had to get very assertive to get them to change our room :sad2: (as we were vacating the room, the passing suits were very surprised to see guests in it, and very angrily questioned another why anyone was in an "uninhabitable" room)
little things we take care of ourselves, minor wear and tear we ignore, the very infrequent larger issues we bring to the attention of mousekeeping and/or the front desk (and resort manager, if warranted).

We must be awfully lucky because we have never had a dirty room. I imagine our turn will come. Maybe my standards are too low. We have seen a few cheerios under the sofa if I happen to get down on the floor to pick up something I have dropped. Balconies tend to get dusty or get a bit of bird poop on them, but I just wipe it up myself. I do think that recently refurbished rooms seem cleaner to me even though they probably are not. Regarding BWV, we often request a 1 bedroom handicapped unit and get 2049, which is on Nazareen's station and she is a wonderful mousekeeper. Last April DH was not with me and we got a room way down the hall near Jellyrolls. It was on Nazareen's sister's station and it was very clean as well. If and when I find a dirty room I will track down the mousekeeper personally to get it fixed. Depending on the response I will or will not call mousekeeping afterwards to report the issue.

We've also never had a "dirty" room - but perhaps I'm less picky. We've had some "not terribly well maintained" rooms over the years (mostly drawer pulls or drawers off tracks). Always stay at BWV.

I guess we've been lucky too. Stayed at BWV 3 no 4 times last few years and never had a problem.

I was there last week (6/4 - 6/10) and, all in all, the room was in decent shape but there were a couple issues. We had crumbs inside of the sofa bed and on every single chair in the room. Looked like someone entertained their kids with an unlimited supply of Animal Crackers! This was a first floor unit and our porch area was hidden behind some shrubs. It looked like the area had not been swept/blown off in over a month. It was covered in spider webs, leaves, and trash that had blown into the area. My wife refused to open the back door because she didn't want to know what creatures may be lurking out there in the brush waiting to come in (she almost sat on a snake by the community hall during this trip, so she was not very creature friendly at this point...) We also had a plastic board that had been ripped off of the wall near the shower door that was hidden behind the toilet. The dry wall had what looked like mold on it and I called that in, but not the cleanliness issues. Never heard back about the mold and to my knowledge, no one showed up to check it for the 6 nights we were there...

Just booked BWV SV 1 BR for Sept today and after reading this may call back and see what else is available - Those large OKW balconies are better anyway - just thought we would try something different this time.

We've never had a dirty room at BWV when we checked in. The only problems we've had with a room were slow sink drains and cracked plaster on the walls.

We have stayed twice at BWV and both times encountered pretty dirty rooms. Mostly the bathrooms. They looked like nobody even attempted to clean the floors. I usually clean everything myself because then I KNOW it is clean.

We called Mon and was able to get a room at BWV for 2nts Just got in a PoolView Studio and the room is clean The only problem is, Its 95 and we're staring at a still weather closed pool Ready for a dip.:)

you were lucky to be able to even get BWV....
every resort has some housekeeping problems (the filthiest DVC resort room - and least responsive mousekeeping - we ever encountered was at OKW, but we would still return there....it happens occassionally, rarely, and changing resorts b/c you read on the internet that a very small percentage of people on a very small percentage of their stays were less than satisfied is denying yourself the opportunity to try something new).
why not try it for yourself.....the BWVs have amazing views like no other resort, walks to two parks, entertainment, etc, you will never get to experience from where you normally stay :)

We've typically gotten really clean rooms - and I am a Lysol- carrying germ-a-phobe! I do wipe things down, but they always look clean. Only one gross- out moment in years of trips, and that was a wad of piled- in towels stuffed in the bathroom cabinet at BWV:scared1::scared1:. Mousekeeping came quickly and I had my Lysol ready!! :rotfl:
