Do you know if you can see Epcot fire works from any of the standard view rooms? If not is there an area of the resort where you can go to watch them? Do you have any recommendations on room location? I have been told about the very long hallways at BWV. Is it good to ask for a room by an elevator? Others have discussed just using the stairs. What has your experience been? Have you ever stayed in a boardwalk view room and was it noisy? I believe you can see the fireworks from a boardwalk view room but we are a little concerned about the noise level. If you are renting points at BWV can you use any of the pool or water areas of the nearby resorts (Swan, Yacht club, BCV)? Are the other nearby resorts I just mentioned within walking distance of BWV and if so how far would you estimate (i.e. 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, etc.)? Have you ever used the Disney Dinning Plan (DDP)? Was it a good value for your family? Do you have any recomendations for using the disney transportations from BWV to the parks? Do you have any recommendations for the restaurants around BWV?

Thanks so much for your help and input. We will be staying there May 31, 2009 - June 7, 2009

The upper level (not ground) fireworks at Epcot can be seen from either boardwalk view rooms or the upper level standard view rooms (best fourth or fifth floor) that overlook the road leading up to the front entrance (looking over the roof of BWI you see fireworks). It is better that you get a standard view room that is NOT close to the elevator if you want the best view of fireworks from a standard view room. Rooms can be "far" from elevator but it is not that far -- at most a 90 second walk.

You cannot use pools at other resorts, only DVC members have pool hopping rights and even they cannot hop to the YC/BC pool. Don't worry, the BW Luna Pool is real good.

Noise: from standard view not much, you might hear cars or busses pulling in or out but then only if you are out on the porch. From most preferred views, again not much. Boardwalk view you can hear people on the boradwalk mostly when you are out on the porch. From any room you may once in a while hear the loud horn of one of the boats.

You can walk to Swan/Dolphin, YC/BC, Epcot and Disney Studios. Swan is closest resort to BWV (a short walk over a bridge). Walk to YC over same bridge about 1/4 mile, walk to BC main restaurant area just under 1/2 mile, walk to Studios 3/4 of a mile to just under a mile depending on where you exit the BWV building, walk to Epcot under 1/4 mile. You can also take a boat to Epcot and Studios (which also goes to BC main restaurant area). You use busses for MK or AK. Note, for coming back from Studios by boat, it is good idea to get off at Swan/Dolphin stop (first stop coming back) and then just walk over short bridge to BWV. Boat goes on to YC/BC before going to BWV and thus you can cut ten to fifteen minutes off your return trip by getting off at S/D.

Restaurants: this is restaurant heaven (for the meals) and restaurant hell (because you will go broke since they make it so easy to get to over 20 restaurants). You have all the Epcot resort restaurants and then easy walk to Epcot World Showcase restaurants (longer to studios). For resort restaurants, we like: at BW: Spoodles (good Italian), Flying Fish (good seafood), ESPN Club (burgers, sandwiches, etc. and great sports viewing), Big River Grille (burgers, steak, and lots of home brewed beers): at Swan: Palios (Italian), At YC Yachtsman's Steakhouse (for steak); at BC: Cape May Cafe for seafood buffet at dinner (one of the best buffets at WDW).

Also note that Boardwalk View and Standard View book quickly - if you don't have a reservation in hand currently - which it sounds like you don't, you may not have a choice for those dates. You might get lucky and there may be something available, but I'd give even odds that only preferred view will be available for that week at this point.

I've stayed in Boardwalk standard view many times. I always request top floor, across from the bus stop and always had an excellent fireworks view.

I've also stayed in boardwalk view many times, just got home from one last night! We were on the 4th floor above Big River (4011) and heard some noise but not enough to keep us awake. I always request top floor but usually get 3 or 4. One time I had 2nd above Big River (actually 2 floors below where I was last week) and did have some noise issues.
