Hello!

We will be staying at BWV in January with my 92 yr old grandmother who is quite spry for her age but we will be getting her a wheelchair for the parks. Where do you all suggest we request to stay at the Boardwalk? We would like something close to the elevators and don't require HA. The walk down the halls can be quite long.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I would place a request for exactly what you need. Near elevators. For this situation I'd add "due to medical reasons".

I'd also suggest renting a wheelchair for the entire stay if you don't already plan to. If you end up in a room that is far from the elevators then you won't have to worry about the distance for your grandmother. You also won't have to spend time each day renting at the parks and the price will be comparable.

I agree with the other poster - ask for what you want - close to an elevator, and add that it is for medical reasons.

You can follow the link in my signature to get to the disABILITIES FAQs thread. Post 2 of that thread has information about renting wheelchairs, including links and phone numbers to off-site equipment rental companies recommended by DIS posters.

if you do request close to elevators for medical reasons, be sure to add "not HA" if you don't wat a HA room.
we wound up in a HA 2bdrm when i only requested for medical reason (parents in their 80's, very limited mobility).
another suggestion: look into outside vendors to get her a scooter for the length of the vacation. there are many suggestions on the disabilities board.
:)

Great! Thanks for the suggestions and I will look on the other board. The scooter is out of the question. She would be too scared.

I will make the requests.
