BWV Preferred or Boardwalk view??

We are kicking around the idea of a split stay next year. We have toured the BWV models and really would like to stay there. I am not sure which view we want, though.

My biggest concern is noise. I noticed some of the villas are way down at the end near Atlantic Dance Hall - I am guessing those are Boardwalk view. The LAST thing I want is drunk people whooping it up outside my room at 2 AM.

I read that Preferred view may be pool view, so again, I am worried about noise.

Anyone have any experience with these views? Is one category likely to be quieter than the other? If we book Preferred and our only request is "QUIET location" will we probably be OK? Thanks for any insight!

Actually there no villas near Atlantic Dance. There are boardwalk view villas next to Jellyrolls and persons leaving Atlantic Dance walk down the boardwalk past the boardwalk view villas well after midnight. There have been numerous threads on this subject and thus you might want to try a search. You will have some noise from the boardwalk and boat horns with boardwalk view but it is not much when the doors are closed. It is a matter of the sensitivity level of the individual. I live in the city and any boardwalk view noise seems virtually non-existent to me; others who live in the country may find it annoying.

As to preferred pool view, there are units arround the main pool and the quiet pool and combined that is actually the majority of the preferred pool/garden view units. You can hear noise from pool area when doors are opened but little when closed and at night both areas are usually quite quiet. In fact, quietest area is the quiet pool area where often there are few people even during the day and overlooking "quiet pool" is a possible request.

We, actually, prefer the villas near Jellyrolls. They are halfway between EPCOT and DHS..with a great view. :thumbsup2 We have never had an issue with drunks disturbing us and we are, normally, on the 2nd floor.

I find that the BW Views are noticeably, but not generally disturbingly noisy - even with the doors closed. i.e. I notice the hum of the Boardwalk and hear the bell, but it doesn't keep me awake. I agree that it depends on your sensitivity - it certainly was quieter than staying on Bourbon St. in New Orleans or the hotel we had in San Francisco down by the wharf.

Frankly, BWV is a "busy" resort, that's its charm. Its going to be a busier, noisier atmosphere than pretty much any other DVC resort. If you are sensitive to that, and are looking for relaxed, book over at BCV and walk over to the Boardwalk to enjoy the resort.

You'll probably need to own at BWV in order to get the BW view villas. They go pretty quickly at 11 months out. You could request the quiet pool as your view - less noisy than Luna Park pool, but still preferred.

We stayed in a BW view up on the 5th floor down by Jellyrolls, MLK weekend 2009. Loved it!

I don't know if I would have liked BWV as much if I had gotten a preferred room to start with.

Thanks! :goodvibes

We are AKV owners, and we would be kicking off the stay at Kidani. I would imagine BWV would seem more noisy/bustling after that. I might just book our whole stay at Kidani and then see what sort of availability BWV has at the 7 month mark.

Crisi, DS did mention that he might like to give BCV a try, so we can always consider that. :)

I always book, my home resort first. I don't want to chance, my dates not being available, at 7 months out.

I didn't pick up, that you are an AKV owner. A BWV view may be difficult, but not impossible. I have booked AKV concierge.:thumbsup2 BCV are, also, a nice choice. Pixie dust and good luck!!

We have stayed twice at BWV in standard view rooms which had views of the front entrance to the resort but you could see part of Illuminations from the balcony and noise isn't a factor. The standard view at BWV, if you can get it, is the best point value DVC has IMHO. BCV is very nice and definitely quiet, depending on what time of year you are traveling it can be hard to get a reservation due to it's small size.

I think we'll definitely book Kidani at 11 mos. and then just see what the choices are at 7 mos.

We'll also have the option of "single use" points at 7 mos. if we come up a little short for the reservation. I have been looking at all sorts of combinations, some that we can cover, some that require a few more points than we have (like 11-19 more), some that require a LOT more (which DH refuses to consider). ;)

We did a split stay last October at BWV between a 1BR and a studio, both were preferred views (garden/pool). For the one BR we asked for a high floor, we were assigned one that was dedicated and it faced the quiet pool with the side view of the canal to DHS. Loved it.

For the second villa, our studio, we asked for a Village Green View. It's the courtyard area off of the boardwalk entrance to the resort. We could barely see the boardwalk from the balcony. No noise when the door was closed very little when the balcony door was open. And just a hop, skip and jump from the elevator or the stairs. Great location.

We own at BLT and AKV. I really like to return to a quiet resort after a day at the parks, so we really didn't take advantage to the Boardwalk entertainment and bars. It was nice to be there for Food and Wine though. It made eating at F&W booths a cinch.

My experience with Preferred view was of the valet parking lot, a small strip of water (canal) directly under our balcony and TOT way off in the distance to the right which we could see only if we were standing out on the balcony. It was quiet, albeit not the most scenic. I would request quiet pool area over risking getting my location.

You appear to be describing the area around the corner of the building where you can see that lot and a stream. If that is where you were then you should be demanding that MS put back into your account the point difference between preferred and standard view because the room you had is definitely standard view. See the map at this page and look at bottom of picture where the green line shows those rooms as standard view: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1801651

We've only stayed at Boardwalk with Boardwalk view, and have had a room right next to Jellyrolls. Yes we heard some music, but nothing that kept us up at night. The doors really do seal out the sounds, and the walls are pretty thick from that direction. Don't let it stop you from a Boardwalk View! It's fabulous!!!

That map is awesome!! Thank you for the link! :)
We would be FINE in a standard villa, or if those are full we would be quite happy with a view of the quiet pool.

Hi,
The map is great drusba....and yes, I was in the green outlined area in the lower forefront portion of the photo. And I did try and get some points back as you suggested. Was put on a 3-way phone call with BWV and MS. Noone budged---particularily BWV manager. He repeatedly insisted it was preferred. This was several years ago, so perhaps they changed this ? I can't believe others would not have made a fuss about this as well ? Someone posted awhile back to me when this topic came up that about 2-3 doors down from my room was considered "standard". So how BWV came up with this imaginary dividing line in this hallway is beyond me. Just passing on a head's up to others on this location........

BWV is not one of our homes, but have booked at our home resort at 11 months and called at 7 months to check on what is available. Both times we were able to get in for the days we wanted with a Boardwalk view. Both times in June. Just lucky!

Noise was never an issue for us and our DGD absolutely loves it there.

We have rented DVC points for our first EVER stay @BWV!!! :cloud9:
We will have TWO standard view studios. I am assuming our view will be of the entrance of the resort/bus stop. I am more concerned about our studios being in close proximity of each other than our view.

They might be on different floors. Just be prepared.
