we have a standard view booked in june at BWV. what will i be looking at and can anyone suggest a specific room or area to request. we would like to be on a ground floor, near pool and bus area??? never even been in this resort, don't have a clue. thanks

You will be looking out at the parking lot. Request a room close to the lobby. It will be the shortest walk to the buses and the boardwalk.

The standard view doesn't face the pools. Close to lobby will have a view of the Valet drop off and ME bus area.

I would request "ground floor across from bus stop." That will allow you to use the BWV door across from the bus stop rather than having to go all the way to the lobby. If you request "close to elevators" you risk being close to the luggage loading for Magical Express and that can get noisy. Ground floor rooms are great for access but you might have trees or bushes blocking your view. Did you book a studio?

First of all, the ground floor is down one level from the lobby.

The rooms that are closest to the parking and far from the lobby are also closest to the buses.

The standard view rooms that are higher up and closest to the parking lot will see some of the lights from Illuminations at Epcot. The lower rooms also, if not in front of a tree (bringing my chainsaw next visit j/k).

The rooms closest to parking are also close to the walking path to DHS and the quiet pool area and community hall.

The only elevator is closest to the lobby.

I am older but I will choose a parking lot area room and climb stairs(up to 4 flights) rather then a room close to the lobby. I like the quiet and seclusion - I can walk to the BW activity when I wish.

There are no really bad views, such as a dumpster area. Usually grass, trees or water, and the BW Inn, or the valet area if you are close to the lobby.

We had a ground floor standard view last year. We were close to the sidewalk that leads to the driveway/bus stop. Right across the hall from our door was the door to the quiet pool. it was very convenient.

I always request top floor, across from the bus stop. That gives you a nice fireworks view. You can use the steps to get to the bus stop without going through the lobby. If you want ground floor, you don't have to go to the lobby to get out either to the bus stop or the boardwalk.

The best fireworks view I had was a 1 bedroom, I think it was 4101 or 4103. The best 1 bedroom I had was on the corner, 3123. It's best not to request a specific room #, just a general description.

I know I wear this visual out, but it really makes it easy to see what area of BWV you will be staying in.

The green line indicates the Standard View rooms. You will be overlooking the driveway or the pond/parking lot. About 50% of the rooms you will be looking mostly at a tree as they have grown considerably over the years.

There is only one bank of elevators as indicated on the photo. So if you don't like stairs much, either request first floor or else close to the elevators.

Standard View is a great value with DVC due to its low point cost per night. I'd put in a request and just roll with the room assignment when it comes.

We've discovered that each location has pluses and minuses. Generally speaking, further down the hall and higher up give you the best chance of seeing some fireworks from your room, if you don't get those trees, but are the least convenient in my opinion. Closer to the lobby and lower down gives you better elevator, pool and lobby access. If you have ECvs or strollers, elevator access is nice and the hallways do get long. If you can take steps easily, then few areas are truly inconvenient. If you have kids constantly in the pool, ground floor makes for a quick trip to the pool.

my main concern is having a quiet room. We are all light sleepers and sometimes the DS4 still naps - so, being near a noisey pool or where the buses are coming or going won't be good for us. I like to stay away from the elevators by a few rooms too for the same reason...
AKL-Kidani was very quiet for us - had a std view - which was of the pool but, wasn't a real loud pool and the rooms quiet insulated (newer) - but, Bonnet creek was noisey for us - they left the pool music on all night and it wasn't horribly loud - but, just enough to keep us up!

from the picture above - it looks like as long as i request to be away from the lobby i should be ok - hard to believe only 1 set of elevators - but, i can deal w/ steps better than lack of sleep and noise! :cloud9:
