BWV Points Question

I am looking to rent 2 studios for 10/1/06-10/06/06 (depart day 10/6) and was wondering if we rented standard, could we be upgraded to preferred at check-in (as I've seen some people have from reading the trip reports board) or is that for people who don't use points? Also what sort of view is preferred over standard (I'd love a view over the Boardwalk)?

I'm bumping this since no one really answered my question. I guess maybe I need to clarify - if I rent points by requesting standard view, is there a chance of being upgraded at check-in? Or is that only for people not renting points?

Do you mean upgraded and not pay the point price for it? No I don't think so. I may be wrong but I have personally not heard of this happening. I am pretty sure you get what you book.

The only way you will not get standard when you check in is if the standard is not available because of maintenance issues. If you rent a standard on points, you will get a standard on points. Maybe you'll be lucky and get a dumpster view instead of the parking lot.

I wasn't trying to imply I wouldn't pay for preferred because that's what I really want. And if I paid for standard, then I'd expect just that - even a dumpster view. I was just curious if the only people who get upgrades are ones who don't rent points. You sounded a little harsh here - not sure if that was intentional - just new to renting points...
