BWV owners, March Trip

I'd like to do a spring break trip for next year with friends and would want a Standard view 2 bedroom. The break is not around Easter next year. It would begin March 21st. Would you book it at the 11 month mark, or do you think I could wait a month and still get the standard view?

There will be 5 of us and I would still do a 2 bedroom for 4 of us, but I think if only 3 I would go with a 1 bedroom. These will be mostly borrowed points, that's why I would wait a month to book. If you have experience in March, with Spring breaks, what have you done? What would you do?

Bobbiwoz, even though Easter is not in March, the college spring break weeks are all different, and you can bet some schools will have that week off. I found out that probably from the middle of March thru the third week of April, schools have a spring break scheduled, either colleges or public schools. I tried to circumvent this by booking a month out from Easter. But alas, all of April is booked solid. I booked at 11 mos. not realizing this, so it worked out for me. Not sure if I waited till 7 mos. I think there are waitlists too. If I were you, I would book at 11 mos. if possible.

I'd get your friends to commit by the time the 11 month mark rolls around, then go for the 1BR or 2BR SV at that point. As pointed out, March can be a very busy month.

OK! Thanks Granny and BWV Dreamin...I have the letter composed to my friends, and it's going out. I'll be booking at 11 months.

DH works for a new company and has fewer vacation days, so it will be the first Spring Break that I have that DH won't be able to take off. We have a European cruise planned for fall '09 and that's going to be a biggie vacation!!

JMHO here, but......what I would do (and have done) is take a good look at the points charts and the following months. See if there is room for another trip AFTER the March trip, if so, I'd book the 2 bedroom at the 11 month mark, making sure that if I had to cancel or down grade, I'd have time and opportunity to use the left over points before the end of my use year.

My use year is October. I booked a 5 night trip for Jan 09 because it's the only time my college students are off together (2 different schools) before the end of the school year (when it's too hot to go). I booked a 2 bedroom standard at the BWV. But.....I also checked into when I'm off during the year to make sure that if I have to cancel my Jan ressie I'd have time for another trip before end of my use year, as these are borrowed points as well.

Thanks...we have a March UY, so that's fine. I will have plenty of opportunities to try to use the points if something happens. For the first time, we will be booking a major trip for the following January. DDiL wants to run in the half marathon. I'm pretty sure that the points that are borrowed will be used.

Be sure to post your January trip! I want to go at the end of January sometime, I'm a little nervous though booking at the end of my UY( I have a March UY also)...wouldn't get those pts. back and of course it would be flu season. Just gotta get my nerve up I guess.

We will buy the trip insurance for the trip, we usually do for "whole" family vacations.
