By way of some background, my husband and I are sharing a two-bedroom with his adult daughter and her roomate in October (the accommodations will be our Christmas gift to them). Ever since we told them about it, Jenn and Miranda want to experience the Food and Wine Festival for themselves (they live in NW PA Wine Country). Jenn (my stepdaughter) has only been to WDW once as a child, and Miranda has never been there.

Right now I have a two-bedroom unit booked at OKW (my home) for the time we'll be there. I know this may be a long shot, but should I attempt to move it at seven months to BWV standard view so they can easily get back and forth to/from Epcot, or should I leave it at OKW and WOW them with the room size?

My mind's been battling with this for some time. My husband thinks we should try and move it, but I think the spacious accommodations at OKW will absolutely astound them.

They're also big rollercoaster fans, and both work in the environmental field, so AK is on the park list as well. And we're treating them to tix for MNSSHP.

Let the debate begin!

BWV is our resort. Last Oct we stayed at OKW because of the bigger rooms for the amount of people we had. The one thing everyone said was that they would have given up the little extra room for the ease of the BWV to EPCOT. The Oct before just myself DW, DS 5 & DD 2 stayed at BWV studio and it was great. Easy to take the kids back and easy to just walk around EPCOT at night. For the Food and Wine BWV is the way to go. You might have to get a perferred view I would bet that all the standard views would be gone. :wizard:

M y favorite is OKW, and I agree that the size will wow them, and it will be SO nice for them each to have a queen size bed, while at BWV, they will have to decide who gets the bed and who gets the pull out. I really don't think OKW is so difficult with F&W either. We have done it, and didn't see what the big difference would be to walk or bus.

You also, since this is a trip that will be completely new for them, I'd give them their own beds at OKW and know that they will be doing a LOT of parks, so busing is not going to be a problem from OKW.

If you think they will spend the lion's share of their time drinking in Epcot or on the Boardwalk, then maybe the Boardwalk is the best option, but my gut tells me they would appreciate their own beds over that.

Its such a long shot that a standard view will be available at seven months over F&W, that I would call to move and let fate decide. If one is available, it must be meant to be. These rooms were going day by day in October in November.

While the convenience of walking to Epcot is certainly an advantage at BWV, I've never viewed the bus ride from OKW as an inconvenience. The time difference will be no more than 15-25 minutes (and could be even less), depending on how quickly the bus comes - not a big deal in our experience, especially with adults.

If BWV standard is available at 7 months, go ahead and try it, but I wouldn't worry about staying at OKW and the room size and luxury of 2 queen beds should more than make up for the small time difference getting to/from the park.

Will you have a car? If you will, then I think OKW would be the better pick. We prefer to drive to the parks when we have our own car.

If you won't have a car, the ease of getting to MGM and Epcot from BWVs is great.

NOW for nightlife, I think Boardwalk has more stuff going on if you think they might like that. We have never been to any of the night clubs there, but we do enjoy the entertainers out on the boardwalk in the evenings.

If I had to pick, I would go with BWVs just because I like being so close to the parks and I like being able to easiy walk from my room down to the pizza window to get something to eat and walking to the pool. I don't like depending on the buses at OKW (but again, if I have a car, then OKW works fine for us).

Good point, westjones. We will have a car, but I don't think we'll be sticking together as a group 24/7. Jenn and Miranda will probably want to get away on their own (away from the old folks) to explore. If they want to do the Boardwalk in the evenings it would be easier for them to get back to BWV than OKW.

I'll take that into consideration, and probe them a little more to learn their preferences.

Try for BCV dedicated, 2 queens for them and a king for you, SAB and walk to food and wine (and BW)-now that will WOW them. :cool1:

Try you have nothing to lose. To me the boardwalk views are some of the best in all of Disney.

I would go for BWV. :thumbsup2 I think the girls would much rather have easy access to nightlife on the BW and an easy walk over to Epcot. DH and I realized that while we love OKW, we are more inclined to stay in the room at night once we were back from the parks. It just seemed more of a project to get anywhere (I know...it's really not....but it seemed that way! ;) ). Whereas when we were at BWV, we would come home from the parks, relax, and then go out for a quick drink later in the night - and it was just a short walk away to ESPN bar, Jellyrolls, Atlantic Dance, etc...

Also - if they have never been in a DVC room, I think they will be "wow"ed by the size of the 2 bedroom at BWV. Remember...only you know the size difference between the BWV rooms and OKW! They have nothing to compare it to other than a regular hotel room!

Have a great trip!

With only 4 people in a 2 bedroom I would go with location at BWV. If you had 6 or 8, I would say go for the more space.

I wanted to report back that as of this morning I transferred the reservation to Boardwalk. Right now we have preferred view (waitlisted for BW view--there were no standard views available).

I thought about what everyone said, and you're right. They won't notice the difference in size, and they will probably prefer the night life at the Boardwalk, not to mention the easy walk to Epcot.

While I would have preferred OKW, my husband really felt BWV was better in this case.

This is true, but the bus from OKW is going to drop you off at the front of the park, where as the walk in from the Boardwalk is going to put them right in the middle of the F&FW.

If the main goal is the F&FW I don't see how you can go wrong with the BWV or the BCV. Walking from either will have you making a food order in less than 10 minutes. :thumbsup2

We're Boardwalk people...so I say stay there. :)

I wrote to Jenn and told her that I moved the reservation. She's thrilled that they'll be able to walk to Epcot and get in by the "secret back door" (her words, not mine). And I saw the Epcot will be having a morning EMH while we're there, so they have a good shot at getting onto Soarin' without a long wait.
