BWV No BW or Standard Studio at 11 Months out!

Make sure you're on the phone exactally at 9:00AM Eastern time tomorrow. Due to my work schedule, I wasn't able to call for NYE last year until 12:30PM (my lunch break), sat on hold until 1PM, and by that point, all BW view studios were gone. I booked a preferred view studio and waitlisted for a BW view. The waitlist never cleared. It was very frustrating that I went on the waitlist a mere 4 hours after the booking window opened, and the waitlist never cleared.

I have things better planned this year and will be calling bright and early tomorrow morning. I'm going for a 1-bedroom, so I hope booking will be a little easier. Good luck to all who are calling tomorrow!

With all of the snow being dumped on us here in Chicago, maybe we will have a snow day at work tomorrow and I will be able to stay home on the phones! It stinks because I need to be at work at 9 and drop DS at school at 830 so it is really tight for me to call at 8am. Come on snow, keep falling, I need a snow day !!!

Sadly they are not common at all. In fact, we have never had one LOL. Unless you count the fact that they were kind enough to let us leave at 5pm today. It took some people 3 hours to get home! I only live a few miles away so it wasn't bad for me. But it would be lovely to get a Friday off LOL. This past fall a tornado touched down near our office building. We are on the 5th floor and the windows were shaking. They didnt let us go home for that either.

Woo hoooo I got my BW view studio for NYE!!!! I took everyone's advice and called a few minutes before and was able to get through at 0800 on the dot. It rang about 20x before the recording came on, but someone answered at 802. I was so worried because she was dilly dallying and I thought she was going to let it slip away from me. She kept asking me questions before she actually went in and snagged it. I was getting pissed LOL I wanted to say. " I don't have time for small talk, give me the darn room!"

Now that I think about it, am I even really going to be in my room that night?? What is all of my fuss about????

Now I just need to see if waitlist for the 3 previous nights comes through.

Oh I forgot to add the most important thing..... I got the snow day at work!!!!!

I called our disaster # and they were going to open the office, but when my cousin ( who lives with me) got to work, so many people had called in that she called our Director who finally decided to close the office. I had already showered and was almost ready to go when I found out. That was why I was able to spend time on the phone with MS. Of course CHicago didn't close the public schools, but I am keeping DS home.

I AM so happy for you...on all counts, like your day off!!! We dodged a bullet here, only rain, not ice, so the roads aren't bad at all!!! We're in, too...in a SV BWV studio. We're trying to do it for the fewest points, and so far, it's working.

Just wanted to update everyone...got my BWV BW view studio this morning!!

Busy signals through 9:05, then on hold until 9:15. Got a great MS rep and she grabbed the room quickly for me! Just one more day and the the ressie will be complete (then the long wait to see if the one night waitlist comes through or we have to move mid-stay).

Have to call MS now on Saturday from a ski slope (long planned family excursion to Gunstock) without my kids knowing (it's going to be a surprise trip)...should be interesting

We got our fourth night for a BWV- Boardwalk view! Only one more night to go. I can't wait to go on New Year's Eve. We have never been there at that time.

I wish we could go today and get out of this snow storm! The schools are closed and our kids are thrilled!

Woo Hoo, I am glad that you were able to get yours as well!! That's awesome. I wanted the standard view as well, but when I called for my first night all they had was preferred so I took that and waitlisted for BW view. I really wanted to save on the points as well as I am using them for 2 other trips this year.

Do you know if they will do a waitlist for Standard and a waitlist for BW view?

I'll bet that you can waitlist for both. I would be very specific about the points that would be used if I got the Standard view, if you have a combo of current/banked/borrowed points for the reservation as it stands.

It would be great if you don't have to move because all of the other days come through for you!

I know . I was supposed to drive my DD down to see the Hannah Montana 3-D movie at the AMC Theater downtown on Illinois and meet up with her cousin. It's about a 2-hour drive (in GOOD weather) and this has been planned for months. Well, 8-10 inches of snow messed up that idea. I think my niece (who lives in the Mt Greenwood neighborhood) is still going to go. But I didn't want to drive 150 miles each way in dangerous conditions for a movie. So ... we're home and poor DD had to go to school. I told her we can get a group of her friends together for pizza and the movie here instead.

Oh man that stinks!! I feel for poor DD! Good thing you didn't try to make the drive because they are saying that it is going to be snowing on and off with periods of heavy snowfall with total of 8-12 inches. For the most part the streets in the City are great( plowed and salted) but it is the outlying burbs that are crappy.

HI Bobbi,

I am going to call them later and find out if I can do that. I will report back. Weird thing is the gal I spoke with told me I had 16 pts left for 08 but that I had 11 transferred in points. So she said I did not need to borrow from 09. Now I remember doing my 11 pt transfer in from my April BW pts, but honestly I thought I did that transfer and used them for either my Feb 08 or Aug 08 reservations. Now I am all confused again!

I am sure that the commercial renters got in and grabbed at least a dozen of those standard view and boardwalk view studios. It's such a problem, you know. Oh well, I will stick with OKW. More room for my points. Crazy to visit the parks between Christmas and NYE anyway.

That is interesting that you should bring that up. I like to buy DVC pins and merchandise online on e bay and I always see those listings for prime weeks and always wondered why anyone would go through the trouble to get the week and then try to sell it? I guess it comes down to $$$ for some. I personally cannot imagine making the ressie and then not getting to go LOL.

I zoned out this week till yesterday and realized I should be booking for NYE week :eek I called yesterday morning and did get a 1 bedroom (which is what I wanted) Standard View from Sun 12/28 to 12/30, this morning I easily got the 1 BR standard for NYE. I'll be calling the next 3 days for the rest of my week. I'm thinking the one bedrooms are a little easier to get with a standard view then a studio is. I'm assuming that is due to the point cost.

Today was much easier - on the phone with MS at 9:02 am and got the last night BW view. Thank goodness this is done (except the one night that I'm waitlisted for midweek).

Yea I must be the only one calling in today because I was able to get through with 2 rings. The CM was very quick and to the point, so I was able to snag my BW view studio. I also changed over my day to day waitlist to a combined so that I will only be switched if all of my first 3 nights come through. I didn't try to do the double waitlist for the standard view because I am already moving from POP for my first 2 nights. I just think a move every few days would drive me bonkers. I just hope B view comes through.
