Hi Everyone. We'll be staying at the BWV next April for one week and have "preferred view". I would love to see a map of where the preferred rooms are and get input to what everyone thinks is the best area. Also, what will we get with the studio; ie., coffee and filters, dish liquid, shampoo/conditioner???

There are studios in the red area on the boardwalk side, known as the "Village Green".

Thanks! Is "Village Green" so much better that it would behoove me ;) to do a request for that area? I think we wouldn't mind being around the big pool but I'm not sure I'd like the area in the far back from the Boardwalk:sad2:

In a studio, you will get dish soap (no dishwasher detergent because there is no dishwasher in a studio), paper towels, trash bags, toaster, microwave, coffee maker with at least one filter pouch of coffee (every four days), paper plates, paper bowls, real cups and glasses, plastic knives, spoons, forks. No laundry detergent in the studio. You have to provide your own.

In the bathroom you get shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, bar soap. Four bath towels, two hand towels and four face cloths.

One queen bed and one double sleeper sofa (except at OKW where you get two queen beds).

If you want more coffee or other supplies, you'll need to purchase them or bring them along. You'll need basket type coffee filters - they don't provide them. No salt, no pepper. You'll get a sugar, sugar substitute and a creamer with the coffee pouch.

We have stayed in a room over the Village Green. We are people watchers and enjoy the boardwalk, so for us it was worth it.

Thanks Deb, that's exactly what I was looking for, and now I'll know to bring my own coffee!

Looks like Village Green would be the prime "preferred" view according to that map.

In-laws just bought BWV last Wed. We (DH, DD & I) are going to stay either there or BLT in Jan. If we do a studio and do preferred boardwalk view, do we automatically end up in the "Village Green?" Are the studios on the upper floors too? Is that the little area between the lobby and boardwalk where I think I've never noticed there were rooms?

I think we'll splurge for the boardwalk view, and take a studio; rather than less view in a one-bedroom.

Thoughts? (Don't mean to be a thread-stealer, but am still learning where to post things on this forum)

The odds of getting anything in Jan could be poor. The BW view is probably not going to happen. That gets booked up by BWV members at 11 months out.

You may wind up at SSR or OKW in Jan if anything is available. Depends on when you are going in Jan.

Preferred is any pool or water view as well as the Village Green. The BW View is a specific preferred view that is guaranteed.

The Village Green studios are preferred pool/garden. If you have a preferred boardwalk view, most of those rooms are directly over the boardwalk, except for one on the corner of the Village Green.

If you are talking January 2010, it's unlikely there will be a standard or boardwalk view available. Better chance of a preferred pool/garden.

So how accurate is the availability thread? From the looks of that, our dates were fine. If that's not accurate, then that's another story.

It's limited to only what's reported. The sample size is so small that it tends to be inaccurate.

We once stayed in a studio in the leftmost red section shown on the map - it's across the hall from the Boardwalk view rooms and near Atlantic Dance Hall. That area overlooks the roof of the bldg behind it - didn't feel like it should be preferred view at all. I'd request to NOT be put in that location.

Other than that, I can't comment on other preferred views, we've been lucky enough to get Boardwalk view. Enjoy your first stay! BWV is a great resort in the perfect location (we're EPCOT lovers).

I was there last week in a studio preferred view room. Unfortunately, my preferred view room was of a tree right outside my balcony. It was about all I could see. We were facing the quiet pool. Room 3106. I loved the resort and it's location. It's nice to be able to walk to Hollywood studios and epcot. Both were short walks from where our room was. Didn't really enjoy the studio though because we've been spoiled by the other rooms. The TV was small and bathroom area tiny. Not much room for storage if you have more than 2 people in the room.

That's the former DVC sales building. It's gone now. There is just a lawn there now, with a view of the canal, Swan & Dolphin.

Are there any 1 bedroom villas in the "Village Green" section?

I believe they are all studios under preferred pool/garden. There is a 1 bedroom on the corner but it is classified as boardwalk view (I got it once).

Thanks DebbieB - good to know that building is gone. We were in that room in early 2003 - I remember that Swan & Dolphin were over there but the roof just seemed to take up the entire view. It should be nice now because it's quite close to the canal.

sorry gonna hijack! But I was just about to start a very similar thread and found all but a few of my answers here already!

I am book on Jan 24-29, while I would really love a village green room it is more important to me that I get a refurbed room. I only want to request one on my ressie though. But by that time of Jan will all the rooms be finished? Will I even need to request specifically that I get a refurbed room?

If I have a Preferred Garden View., studio, where is the best place to be to minimize walking to the buses or boats?

And finally.....
About how long are the HS & EP walks? I've stayed at Yacht Club and found the walk to EP a quick and easy affair, never tried the walk to HS. To put this in perspective, I'm a NYer and can walk about 20 blocks (1 mile) in 10-15 mins at a easy pace for me.

Oops I lied, one more.....
Belle Vue Louge I believe is the place that will sell breakfast. Is this just pastries, bagels, fruit, or actual QS waffles, eggs and such. Is there a QS breakfast place in BW. How far are the villas from the Belle Vue?

Thanks again for helping another BWV newbie out! (and sorry OP for the hijack but I hope you'll find this all informative as well!)

The walk to DHS from the Dolphin took us about 15-20 minutes, so probably a little less from anywhere at the BWV.

I hope we get an answer to the refurb question.

And the boat is right outside the lobby of the BWI (which I think is also the BWV check-in). I mean, right out....straight....can't miss it. Again, close to the Village Green, maybe not as close if on those quiet pool rooms closer to the DHS side of the resort. But, again, never stayed there.

The busses for the BW are out front of the lobby as well. Maybe more on the BWI side. I don't think there are two stops for the resort (at least when we went from the Dolphin, we only made one stop at the BW). That Village Green seems to be relatively centrally located, however.

Hoping the experts chime in again....
