We'll be staying at BWV for the first time next week, in a BW view studio. I'm not all that familiar with the layout. I know that there is only on elevator and the hallways are long. :)

What is the best route to get out the door and onto the BW itself (for getting to/from Epcot and/or MGM)? Do the stairways exit onto the BW?

Also, how early can we check in? We'll be checking out of BWI and into BWV, and I'd like to check in before we head to Epcot in the morning (I'm aware that the room probabaly won't be available).

2infinityandbeyond,

The best way to get from the room to the BW may be to use the closest staircase. They open onto the BW. There is only one guest elevator close to the lobby. Try finding the closest set of stairs to the room otherwise you may have to walk to the elevator. The location of the stairs isn't obvious so you need to ask a CM when you check in. You can also look at the diagram on the back of your room door.

We got lucky when we stayed at BWV this summer. Because my mom and dad had to be at Orlando airport to fly out, they dropped us off at Dis around 7:30 AM. We asked when we could check in and were checked in immediately. There were only a handful of people there at the time. We went up to our room and came back down an hour later and the lobby was filled. I would say if you try going down early, you may have a good shot at getting something. When we drive, we usually leave at 6:00 AM to drive home since it's about a 17 hour drive. For people like us, they may get those rooms cleaned and ready quickly!

It really depends on where your room is located. What view do you have reserved?

None of the stairs exit directly to the boardwalk. The stairs at the end of the building near Jellyrolls exit to the back by the canal. Keep in mind the stairs are actually fire escapes, people complain that they are not "pretty" but their main function is as a fire escape.

There is one set of stairs that does. It comes out by the ATM machine near The Screen Door. It is only an exit, you can't get back up to your room that way.

We booked BW view. Fire escape stairs are fine with me. We've used them at BCV at the end near the parking lot.

So what would be the most direct route from a BW view room to/from Epcot?

Depends on which end you are. I have used the stairway that empties out by the ATM...exit that door and head down the boardwalk to your right.

You'll actually find the stairway near the ATM really good (as G4T suggests) for a BW view room when going to EPCOT. You will save a lot of time rather than going to the elevator and through the lobby or to the ground floor.

We have a Boardwalk view room in 34 days and will be using that set of stairs frequently. BTW, the quickest way to MGM if you want to walk is to walk back toward the elevators and continue down the hallway. You will find a couple sets of stairs (depending on how far you walk the hall) that take you out the back near the canal and right on the path to MGM.

Have fun.

Thanks - I never knew that there were stairs there (I have a BW room arriving 12/1). I assume they are located where the hall bends for the final section to the elevator?

If you want to take the elevator, I always go down to 1, it comes out next to the pool rather than going to the lobby on 2 and taking the steps.

Yes. You head out of the elevator toward the Boardwalk view rooms and the hall bends to the right. Just before it bends back to the left is where this stairway is on the right hand side (look for the exit sign above the green door). We usually get standard view rooms so that section of the resort is an area I'm not used to being in, but we had a GV a couple of Thanksgivings ago and got used to the stairways down at that end. Have fun on your trip!
