Just an FYI for those planning a visit in a BWV Studio this week. The laundry room is down to1 functional washer and 1 dryer that only 1/2 works.

Just called the front desk and engineering and was told an outside company was coming to fix the laundry facilities tomorrow. Now we have soaken wet clothes that have been in the dryer for 2 hours and still no where near dry...

That's rotten.

Last Feb we had to spend part of our checkout day (we were only there one night) at the laundry room, b/c the dryer in our 1bedroom didn't work. I know well the "2 hours in the dryer and nowhere near dry" experience!

If you'll be there longer, maybe you should call Member Services (or whoever is the complaint-recipient) and see if anything can be done? A move to a 1 bedroom, etc? When we got home, we wrote in to make SURE they knew they had a dryer out of commission. The front desk (I went to the desk) and maintenance didn't act like they cared one little bit, and I wanted to get the info to someone perhaps higher-up. In response, they gave me back the points for the 1bedroom vs the studio, because in my letter I let them know that laundry was the only reason we had booked the 1bedroom (which was 100% true).

Now, don't write in to get something, but be SURE they know the problem.

I don't really want to write in because I am afraid they WILL think I am trying to get something. I already complained about a meal we had this week at Chef Mickeys and we were reimbursed. I really don't want to be seen as a serial complainer. I did call the font desk & engineering. Should I still contact MS?

I would ask for some SMALL cash reimbursement, just enough to be able to wash and dry your clothes the coin op laundry facilities on the Boardwalk Inn side of the resort, assuming those are working. That seems reasonable. If those facilities are also down, then I'd probably ask for a T-Shirt for everyone in your party so you have fresh shirts for tomorrow. Be sure to make these requests in person to a front desk manager, so you aren't going through the call center/virtual front desk.

If you decide to address the problem, make sure you do so while you are on property, do not wait to get home and then write.

When I realized at Midnight my dryer wasn't working in a 2BR at the BWV and that the laundry room was full of people doing laundry I called housekeeping. They sent someone up to retrieve my laundry-2 loads worth. They dried it and returned it early the next morning because we were cking out. I was happy with their solution

We don't often use the w/d, but have always found them working. I'm glad to read that solutions have been found for when they aren't. OP, I hope you are able to get some satisfaction.

I stay in studios and I really appreciate the free laundry room and I would certainly be disapointed if it was not working.
But these machines breaks and the important thing is that Disney will have them fixed.

But I am just wondering... Is it written in our DVC contract that Disney HAS to provide a laundry room to be used by DVC members ?
If not, why are people asking for compensations if some washers or dryers are not working ?

I read thoses post in the DVC board, and it seems to me that so many people are expecting everything to be always perfect and 'compensation' pop up immediatly...... It seems that it is like a hobby. Some people get themselve so mad in order to get compensated ($$$ or points) that they are just losing all their vacations.... I just don't understand...

When something goes wrong, just reported it. have it fix and enjoy your vacations ! :)

Free laundry facilities were part of the original represented resort amenities forall DVC resorts. Now, while Disney/DVC can change amenities, they can not substantially change the resort from what we purchased. In other words, they could not remove the beds and replace them with sofa sleepers, etc. As long as our dues cover the laundry facilities as part of our resort maintenance budgets, it would be difficult for them to justify removal or charging for the service. At Aulani, DVC Members staying in studios receive free tokens to use in the laundry, so if a resort laundry facility is not operational, an equivalent option should be offered, like giving them cash to do laundry in the regular cash laundry room at BWV. But I would not expect points to be returned or any other compensation, as long as they paid for use of the resort laundry.

But this is an issue that really needs to be addressed while you are at the resort. It kind of falls flat to finish your vacation then expect some sort of compensation after you return home for what is truly an inconvenience that could be easily rectified by making the cash laundry room available. The OP was left with soggy clothes because of a non-functioning dryer. So Disney should either arrange to pay for a cash dryer or offer some T-shirts that they can wear. IMO.

Thank you for the clarification Chuck.

And I agree with you that, if the machines breaks down, they should give access, for free, to the regular coin laundry room until it gets fixed.

All is well now. There are still some busted washers and driers but there is at least one of each that is fully functional!

Last March VWL only had one working washer in the laundry room. Went to the front desk spoke with a supervisor in person. This was on a Monday. Repeatedly called through out the week. Friday it was still broke. No offer to use the hotel washer for free.

BCV has only two washers and dryers for studio use...and they are the high speed front loadings ones.

You called the front desk, which means the call went to a call center not at Disney. Possibly not even in the same state.

I believe that MS needs to know about problems. What they choose to do with the information is up to them.

Aw man why didn't I think of that? Excellent solution, and would have gotten my husband much more pool time (I made him stay with the laundry, since I once had the experience of having all of my laundry stolen from an apartment complex laundry room and have no interesting in revisiting that experience).

Compensation comes up because Disney likes to compensate. I wrote in telling theme exactly what happened, and WHY it was so bad for us. For us, the WHY was that we needed to do a week's worth of laundry, and had spent the points on a 1bedroom specifically for that purpose, when we would have otherwise used a studio. We had no time to appreciate the 1 bedroom, since we checked in after midnight and of course needed to be out of there by checkout time the following day. It was for the laundry machines that we booked that room.

They CHOSE to do more than just assure me it would be fixed. I'm not going to complain about the 14 points (or so) I got back. I don't share it to give people ideas; I share it to tell the whole story.

Woohoo!

I emailed MS. We just checked into AKV Jambo, and it too Is down to 1 washer... PLUS we were told we had to do all the way to Kidani to rent a movie. I had to complain. It's like a perfect storm! I can't help but laugh at this point :)
