BWV in October ?

My husband and I are looking at a 50 pt resale at BWV with the sole purpose of going to F and W every October. 50 pts will get us 5 nights in a standard studio even with the pt increase in 2010. We would need 65 pts for 5 nights in boardwalk/preferred view.

My question is would we be wasting our time/money if we could not even get any studio at BWV in October even if it is our home resort? Or can most BWV owners get a studio during October when they call at the 11th month mark?

If you call at the 11 month mark you shouldn't have a problem. No one else can book before then so you should be fine.

We booked a GV at BWV in October a couple years ago by calling day by day at opening at the 11 month window. (Of course, the day by day thing has changed now.)

I wouldn't think you'd have any problem by calling ASAP.

Also, if you are finding that you are a little short with the 50 pt contract, you can add on directly with DVC to get a few more points (for as little as 25). That way, you would have some flexibility in what view room you could take.

I know that they have waitlists for some of those resorts, but a thought for the future. I was looking into BWV and was told that the 11 month window should give me plenty of options for my travel times. I ended up with VWL, but at least its nice to know that if your plans are consistent, you would be covered.

F & W was what prompted us to add on at BWV--we have an October UY and it has worked out exactly as planned. We haven't had any trouble getting a reservation when booking at the 11 month point.

Hey, a fellow Buckeye!

Just a quick word of caution, though you may already be aware of this especially if you are a current DVC owner:

Please don't get bit by the current reallocation issue. Note the thread about the 2010 Point Charts. Down the road that 50 points may not get you as many nights as now and a lot of people are, understandably, very upset about this reallocation. If you are willing to add on then you'll be okay.

You might not always get the standard view studio. They tend to go really fast right at eleven months - and a lot of BWV owners own specifically for those few standard view studios and specifically for F&W. Some of them are likely to be disappointed each year.

You will be able to get something eleven months out for October every year

I do know that all the studios between BWV and BCV were gone at the 7 month mark for Oct 8-12 last year, but 1BRs were available.

you need to call early at 11 months exactly to get a standard studio for the food/wine - of course if you don't get what you want you can try the wait list.

standard studio go pretty fast. although called yesterday for Oct 1 and got one.

if you follow this you will be okay - but remember to bank your points - yes even 5 points can add up over the years.
