We'll be down there at the tail end of your vacation! My family is coming down from July 31-August 4 and we're staying in a 2 BR garden view at BWV. However, I'm still trying to grab a studio from July 27-31 for just my wife and I!
The Boardwalk is a fantastic resort. You are walking distance to Epcot and DHS (or you can take a ferry (Friendship) from the resort to either of those parks. There are a couple of great bars and some amazing restaurants there! There is also entertainment (jugglers, magicians, etc) on the Boardwalk in the evenings. You can find a lot of information here:
Also keep in mind you are right around the corner from the Swan and Dolphin. There are some fantastic restaurants in there as well. Il Mulino New York Trattoria is amazing and has a great wine selection!
So much to do for all ages. Not sure who's traveling with you. We have teens and the love it. They can go to Epcot or Hollywood on their own or cruse the Boardwalk at night. Great community room if you catch a rainy day. So many food options and nightly entertainment. Best advise check out the Boardwalk link.
My wife and I, on an adult only trip had diner at Flying Fish. We fell in love with the resort came home and purchased a Boardwalk DVC contract.
