We will be staying at BWV for the first time this Sept. We reserved a 1bdrm std. view. How long time wise is the walk over to mgm? Say at a pushing a stroller normal pace. Any other tips or info you could share with a fellow DVCer would be greatly appreciated.:thumbsup2

If memory serves me correctly, I'd say less than 20 minutes - but its been a long time since I had to push a stroller LOL! Its really a plesant walk unless its very hot out. The boat ride takes about the same amount of time, and you get to stop at Beach Club & the Swan / Dolphin before getting to MGM.

Less than 20 minutes sounds about right. I think the boat ride takes longer than that, especially if you have any kind of wait for the boat. I love the walk to both Epcot (shorter than to MGM) and to MGM. It is one of the reasons I like to stay at Boardwalk. Have a great time!

For MGM, unless the boat just pulled away, I'd recommend the boat with little kids - you'll do plenty of pushing that stroller. MGM is walkable, but it isn't an easy distance. But its about twenty minutes.

Just got in from walking back from MGM...passed BWV's community hall at 12 minutes from the MGM exit gate...wasn't pushing a stroller, but was just ambling along...wasn't an exercise walk! Kept going to BCV...BWV is about half-way from BCV to MGM...Epcot, on the other hand, is no more than five minutes from our room to the International Gateway...

To compare: It took 70 minutes to take a bus to DTD on Tuesday evening--the first bus that came couldn't hold all the people waiting, so we had to wait for the second bus...a total wait time of just under an hour. It took 55 minutes standing cheek-to-jowl on a super crowded bus to get home from DTD this afternoon; 15 minutes to get there...a bus pulled up just as we arrived at the bus stop...

Other than the fairly miserable DTD bus service, buses to Animal Kingdom & Magic Kingdom came w/in 10 minutes and took only 15-20 minutes to get there...and until the miserable trip back from DTD this afternoon, we always had a seat, too...

Some of it is luck of the draw and random, I know...but we sure are spoiled by the pleasant easy walks to Epcot & MGM!!!

I'm not sure what type of room you have booked and where you will end up, but some standard and preferred view rooms are located alot further down the path than some other rooms. We found when we were in this area once, the walk was quite easy unless it was very hot and sunny (there is very little shade along the path). If it's hot and sunny (mid-day), I would opt for the boat. In the evening when park closes and Fantasmic is just ending, you will LOVE having the option to walk instead of waiting for the boat. Good luck!

We reserved a 1bdrm std. view. I actually requested a room near the elevator. I read another thread that talked about how long the hallways can be. We had that experience when we stayed at VWL. You would get off the elevator come around the corner and would be staring at this looong hallway, knowing you were the secong to last door on the right. Plus that long hallway reminded me of the Shining.:lmao:

The hallway with most of the ST view rooms is towards MGM. If you don't get a room near the elevator, but do get a room on the first floor, your walk to MGM will probably be significantly shorter. You will also be able to cut across to the bus stop for MK and AK as well from that location, so if you don't need the elevator, the only time you need to walk the loooooong hallways is when you are going to EP or out to the Boardwalk.

We aren't pushing a stroller, but we really enjoy the walk to MGM in the morning and evening. Plus, the hallways allways seem shorter when you cut thru to walk in air conditioned comfort vs. the Florida heat.

Best of luck -- Suzanne

We just got back a week ago. We were on the first floor Standard View room 1107 and just a few doors down to the exit at the end of the building (so when you walk out, you're looking at the bus stop and the front of the BW basically. We actually went to MGM a few times during our one week stay and never took the boat once, either way (and pushing a stroller too!). :) I never timed the walk but I'd say it was about a 15min walk. We are pretty long legged and walk at a good pace. The weather also wasn't overwhelmingly hot, which helped.

I think you will probably find yourself walking to the parks (it's fun), but taking the boat home (your tired).
