BWV cash ressies w/ DVC discount

I called last week about possibly adding 1 cash day to our 5 points days in a BWV 1-BR standard view (August), was told only preferred view rooms are available for cash, but they did have some at DVC rate of $298.

Today I called and was told that only standard-view rooms are available for cash and was given the same $298 price. So, I reserved the additional day and was assured I would be in a 1BR standard view for all 6 nights.

Can anyone confirm that ONLY standard-view rooms are available for cash? Seems odd since standard-view is so limited at BWV.

My understanding is that the cash price is the same for both preferred and standard room types. I know that if you book through CRO, there is only one price per room size and your actual room assignment can be anywhere in the resort. My guess is that the inventory of point rooms available for the member discount fluctuates daily. That would account for getting two different answers on two different days. When you inquired, you were told what the current inventory happened to be at that time.

FWIW, I think you were lucky to be able to get a cash room with the member discount (which is what I assume was meant by "DVC rate"). It never seems to be available when I want it, darn it!

Thanks for the info. Your explanation makes sense.

I certainly do consider myself lucky for getting a 1BR standard view for the Member discounted rate. I've never gotten the discount before either! It may be because the day I added is August 24 which is not only "off peak" (DVC Dream Season) but also a Saturday and member demand is less for weekend nights due to the points difference.
