BWV Bummer

If we stay at the BW it's usually in the standard rooms - balcony with a tree view is fine but I can do without the AM smoker and the person above me smoking a cigar and tapping the ash over rail.

I would have reported that immediately! I would have gone just east of ballistic!

It really goes to show that view is all about perspective. We have gotten those rooms all the times we have stayed at BWV in a BW view room and to be honest, we enjoy them.

We don't spend a lot of time on the balcony, but when we do, we liked being able to people watch and standing up was find for us. I also like the privacy of the balcony, but maybe again, that is just us.

Not, not just you. We also are ok with the wall in some of the Boardwalk view rooms and like the fact that sitting down you're not on stage. And you can stand up and take it all in. And the balcony is huge! I wish that they would put a couple of lounge chairs out there. ::yes::

:thumbsup2
we've been assigned BW view studios xx29 and xx31 twice a year, for the past few years (floor levels varied) - the studios in the recessed area to the right (when looking from outside) of the GVs. those quickly became our favorite studios/resort rooms in all of WDW.
so when we checking in for our may vaca, DD & i were surprised and a bit disappointed when the CM said room 2037 :worried:
BUT, then we walked thru the room, opened the balcony door and HOLY COW!! the balcony is HUGE - it was like having a whole other room added on! this was heaven: we could sip coffee as the sun came up, watch illuminations and the BW activities - in our jammies ! loved the privacy dividers on each side, the thick wall to place a cel or camera (long and wide enough to set up a buffet for the big party we could have had on the balcony!)
the room was just a few steps to a stairwell, down 1 flight of stairs, and out to the main pool/BW, and the walkway to DHS.:cloud9:
the solid wall isn't good if one cannot stand easily (really poor planning for a HA room to have one), or has small children - tho it is probably safer for little ones.
we really hope to get that room again in oct :thumbsup2

last year, we had a family with kids throw their garbage (crumpled paper, leftover food, q-tips :confused3, etc) on our balcony (we saw both the adults and kids doing it a few times).
i tried saying loudly "where is all this garbage coming from?" when we knew they were out on the balcony above us.
we finally gave up being subtle (cleaning the balcony a few times daily gets annoying), and talked to the FD - viola! no more raining trash :)

hopefully, you spoke to the FD.
