i have a 1 bedroom boardwalk view booked for july. what and where should i request for the best view . are the higher floors better. what should i put in my room request. have never stayed there before.thanks

I think higher would probably be better as it would be further off the Boardwalk so a little quieter, you wouldn't have the solid wall balconies some rooms have on the second floor and you would have a better chance to view at least some of Illuminations over the tops of the trees.

I always request top floor, only got it once. Most of the time get 3 or 4. Got the second floor once and it was noisy, right above Big River.

Transferrred in BW points so DH could enjoy BW view, requested high floor, and we got 1005, the studio next to the preview center right on the BW!:confused3

Just remember they are only requests.

That's my biggest fear. I think I would pay to move the next day.

I've never been to boardwalk, but we plan to. On the points charts it has 2 points categories, standard and preferred. I've read that getting BW view or standard is hard at 7 months out. Does this mean there are different views in each category? I had kind of assumed Preferred was BW view, and standard was not. Could someone explain the points chart and the views to me for BWV?

Edit: Never mind. This cleared it up for me. http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u282/VWL_Granny/BWVRoomViews.jpg

When BWV first opened, it was all one. Then people complained about getting the front driveway area so they split it up into standard for lower points and preferred for everything else.

Then about 8 years ago, they split the preferred into garden/pool and boardwalk, same points but actual reserved view. It was at the same time as they introduced a "room ready" room assignment system where rooms were not preassigned, you would be assigned a room that was ready when you arrived at the front desk. I think they thought that would cause problems at the front desk because there are few boardwalk view rooms compared to pool/garden. I spoke to member satisfaction at the time because when I bought, I was told room requests are filled based on date of reservation. Since I would have the home resort advantage at 11 months, I would have a good chance. This "room ready" system would throw that out. I guess they got more complaints because shortly after they announced the reserved views.

Thanks for the info. I guess I was kind of curious as to why they don't have 3 different point view classes like BLT. It gives the owners the advantage of getting BW view over non owners so I do like that (even though I own BLT). My real question would be what kind of chance would I have of getting Standard view at 7 months out during the summer? Since views aren't high on our priority list, and stretching our points is, we were curious about being able to get Standard view as non owners.

We bought BLT because thats what the wife wanted.....plus the extra 18 years. We like the proximity to the park and the monorail. We have heard great things about BW and would love to stay there Summer of 2014. It's proximity to Epcot sounds great, and if we were able to get Standard view, we'd be able to swing up to 10 days if I banked correctly and split from 2 nights in a studio and a week in a 1 br.

For the best views, you want high floor, in the Crest of the Wave part of the building. The only downside to this is you will be far from the elevators. I would suggest anything on 3rd-5th floor ending in XX01-XX15

Thanks for posting this question. I was going to ask this myself today. We will be checking into BWV next Sunday, hoping to check in really early. If they do not have a 4th or 5th floor room I will wait for one. Other then an upper floor I didnt know what else to ask for.

Minor Clairification - Evidence based on point allocations shows that the Standard View Catagory was already in the plans when BWV Sales began. However the standard view point chart was not released until a year or two later when they anticipated they would start selling the standard view unit points.

You don't get the option normally to wait for a room to open up . If they have one and you ask to move they could charge you. We have had a room with no hot water for the entire stay and they wouldn't move us . They were full. Sometimes you get a great front desk person who can do something but other times it is what it is and you live with it or pay up

They only charge you to move if you enter the room first (to reclean it). If you ask to change at the front desk before getting keys, they do not charge.

I've found rooms are always preassigned at BWV. It's hard to get your assignment changed, they are usually full.

I am sure someone with more BWV experience will chime in, but we are planning a BWV stay too and from what I have read on the boards, standard view at BWV is much like standard view at BLT. It is booked by the BWV home resort owners at the 11 month mark.

When I'ved asked nicely if there is anything else available, maybe on a higher floor, I'm always told "no, sorry" and handed my key.

I have gotten ONE request met at BWV ever. I've never had a bad room, but if we want to be on a high floor, we are above the screen door. Close to the elevators gets us by the tennis courts....only when we make no requests do we get wonderful rooms.

And yes, BW Standard View can be difficult to get at seven months - certainly not impossible, but it isn't something to plan on until you can actually book it. Especially for longer trips because days are sometimes missing in the middle.

When I was staying standard view (before boardwalk view was guaranteed), I always requested top floor, across from the bus stop. I usually got 3rd or 4th floor (5th floor is only close to the elevator), from the middle down to the corner. One time I even got the prized corner 1 bedroom.

For boardwalk view, I always request top floor. Only got it once out of 7 or 8 times. Got 2nd once, the rest 3 or 4. I usually get a 1 bedroom and I don't think there are many on the top floor. The only top floor one I got was on the corner of the Village Green.
