Hi All!

I have rented points 3 times, and finally went and did it--I am now the proud owner of DVC, home resort BWV. Woohoo, no regrets at all, I am thrilled!

One question I am hoping you all can help with. I only stayed at BWV once--the other point rentals I refer to are upcoming trips, my DVC resale I purchased only begins in 12/05. (I Know I can start getting points in 11/04, but I don't want to get too ahead of myself yet).

Anyway, when I was at BWV a few weeks ago I had a one bedroom that had access from both the living room and master bedroom to a very large terrace, it spanned both rooms. Are all the terraces this size? I read someone referring to a "small" terrace on some site, I can't recall where. Perhaps they were referring to a studio? Or do some of the one bedrooms only have a small terrace?

Thanks in advance, and I'm so proud and happy to have joined!

Congratulations on becoming a BWV member. It is also our home resort and we absolutely love it.
Many of the 1 br at BWV have the balcony that you had--aren't they great--plenty of room to spread out. However there are 1 Br BWV that have a separate balcony off the Master bed and LR. These balconies are not as spacious.
The report you read about the small balconies were referring to the studio balcony.
Of course take things you read on this board that refers to size at BWV, with a grain of salt. There are some that post here that have a real size comprehension problem when it comes to BWV. LOL!

As one DVC member to another...Welcome Home!! BWV is one of my home resorts too!! Love it there!!

Congrats!!

Thanks to both of the previous posters. I knew I could count on DVC members to help me out and make me feel welcome.

If anyone has any recommendations or advice regarding staying at BWV I'd be most grateful to hear it. Best rooms, worst rooms, best views. ANYTHING that you'd think a newbie to Boardwalk should know, I'll be most appreciative to hear any advice you have for me.

Thanks again for the replies I have received so far!

We've never had what I would call a "bad" rom at BWV.

All a matter of personal preference. You can save some points, and get a standard (parking lot) view room, but those tend to fill up fast because they are cheaper, point-wise.

You can now request and be guaranteed a Boardwalk View. Very nice.

The other preferred view rooms are of the pools, the canal, or the Village Green (that lawn in front of the BW). All very nice.

Just put your requests in, in order of preference, when you make your ressie. Most importantly, if N/S or N/H is important to you, put that at the top of your list. The sage advice is not to request a specific room, your chances of getting it are usually pretty slim.

Good Luck!

CRobin,

Thanks for the great advice. One question--I thought I knew the WDW acronyms fairly well but you stumped me on one. I know N/S is no smoking, but what is N/H? My poor brain can't figure that one out. TIA!

That's for non-handicapped accessible.

The HA rooms have no tub in the studios, just a roll-in shower, and the sink is arranged to accomodate a wheelchair. Many members, particularly those with small children who take baths, prefer not to have these rooms and request as such.

Congratulations. You'll love owning at BWV.

Some random thoughts:

- If you have kids (and even if you don't), don't hesitate to take advantage of Community Hall. It is a great and inexpensive place to spend some quality time at WDW.

- If you have STRONG legs, try a surrey ride around the lake...my boys (6 and 2) loved it (my DW and I appreciated the workout)

- Don't be afraid to take advantage of "standard view," it is IMHO the best overall value in a DVC accommodation.

From our DVC family to yours, we wish you many magical vacations! :)

Wow what a helpful and friendly reply!!

My first BWV trip was a few weeks ago, I checked out community hall one day, but it appeared to be closed. (Anyone know the hours?) I'll have to give it a closer look in September when I go with my daughters. When I went a few weeks ago it was a "Moms only" trip with a pal of mine, she'd never been to WDW so we spent a lot of time at the theme parks. My kids and I have been there so many times we don't need to do it all and see it all every time, we enjoyed hanging out at the Polyand doing all there was to do there. With the huge rooms and so much to do at BWV I am sure we'll stay at the resort even more. So thanks for the suggestion!

I have done the surrey bikes (and yes strong legs are needed!)when I stayed at the Poly, you can drive around the resort and also take them to the wedding chapel and to the GF. My 13 year old and I love 'em! Looking forward to trying them at BWV in September, my friend I went with earlier this month didn't want to ride the bikes.

I appreciate the standard view advice also. I did indeed have a 1 bedroom standard at BWV from 5/2-5/6 and it was great, wouldn't hesitate to do it again. The extra pts for preferred don't seem worth it to me, but of course it's a personal decision and may be well worth it to someone else.

Thanks again for the super nice and helpful reply from one New Yawka (I am from long guyland) to another!

Our last stay at BWV we stayed in a 1BR that only had a small balcony that was accessed from the main "living room". There was no balcony outside of the master bedroom.

The reason became apparent when we saw the room from the outside...there was an awning over a doorway that blocked two stories of rooms from having balconies in that area.

The room was overlooking the quiet pool. And the balcony we had was still plenty good enough for us. But if a long balcony is important, you will want to stay clear of those two rooms!

We have also had one bedrooms with both the large and small balconies. The small one was like Granny mentioned, only off the living room. It was just as big as the others I have had in a studio - plenty big enough.

We also own at BWV and also just bought an additional resale there (cause we love it so much and can't get enough!!). Congratulations on your purchase!!

Thanks LexxieFern and congratulations yourself on your newest BWV purchase. I looked at your countdown clock and I'll be leaving BWV just a couple of days before you arrive. I'll leave a light on in the window for you at home!

I've stayed at BWV 5 times in a 1 bedroom and all 5 times we had the large balcony that spanned from the living room to the bedroom. Some were enclosed and some were open. All were dedicated 1 bedrooms.

Welcome Home! You'll love BWV!

Thanks for the welcome home Debbie, nice to be here! I wasn't sure what you meant about the balcony being enclosed vs being open. Would you please explain the difference? I know you can't mean some don't have railings! :wave2:

Our last trip in January was the first time we didn't have the large balconey. We had a standard view 1 bdr and it was fairly close to the entrance where it bends around so there was only one off the living are and none off the bedroom, just a window. I have to say I missed that balconey off the bedroom. Other than that it was a wonderful stay, as always. Congratulations and Welcome Home!

Thanks a lot for the welcome and the feedback CJ. I wonder if I can request the large balcony since I liked it so much. I guess it can't hurt to ask! :teeth:

I would certainly request it when you make your ressies. We are finally staying in a GV this December for the 1st time, and after all the discussion on this board about the 1 story vs. 2 story GV, I called and added a request for the 1 story. They say the balcony runs the length of the 3 bdr. It is amazing what you learn from these boards.

I'd LOVE to gather enough friends and family to do the GV someday CJ. Have a fantastic time!!

" It is amazing what you learn from these boards"

And of course you're right these boards are great. I lurked here for a long time, and learned so much that helped me decide DVC was right for me. So thanks to everyone who posts!

See the picture of BWV in the link below. Some of the balconies are enclosed on the sides and top, some are just railings.

I prefer the enclosed for privacy plus you can sitout when it is raining.

If you want a huge balcony and a larger room, the rooms in the yellow area on the corner are standard view dedicated 1 bedrooms, the huge 3 side balcony is off of the living room, there's another enclosed one off the bedroom (red area on the left side). Rooms 2123, 3123, 4123. I was lucky enough to get 3123 last December without even requesting it.
