Checked into two studios 3/3 at the BWV. They were both SV, dedicated, rooms 2097 and 2099. Both had day beds. They were about across from the bus/taxi stand areas and had the enclosed-type porches. Don't know if we could see Illuminations - it was rainy and cloudy. Could only see the flashes of light! Rooms were fine, but we had to call for coffee cups and paper supplies. Check in was quick and easy - especially since all the names were already in the system. I think it would have been really slow if we had to give the names then!

That night - the Boardwalk Buskers were in the lobby and the Belle Vue Louge areas. They were a lot of fun and the kids loved them. Chris/7 kept asking to go back all week. Can you imagine a juggler riding a unicycle in the BW lobby???

Checked into ded 2br/2Q at BCV 3/4 at 6:30am. <yawn> We were going to Discovery Cove that day, so we wanted to be sure we got the keys early. She looked at me funny at the desk, and didn't really smile at me until the end, but it was no problem at all. Room 333, looking at AA, Morocco and France. Could see the high fireworks and any that went sideways. :-). Two separate porches on the LR and MBr. No porch on the 2nd Br. When DH called and was told the room was ready, he went up with luggage and Bell Services. 2 housekeepers were sitting at the table with "little scrips of paper" (as DH called them) all over the table. Said they were not finished and it would be 45 minutes longer. Hmmmmmmm. I've heard of this happening before -so what is that about? Is housekeeping reporting the wrong rooms done, or is the front desk getting them into the system wrong? Room was in good shape after except we called for one lightbulb and to have the dryer string in the 2nd bath replaced. Both were done quickly. Also the chairs at the breakfast bar were covered in chocolate syrup mess.

I see what everyone means about the dining table and the coffee table. I was really shocked at the condition. The table obviously had people picking at the finish all around it on the edges and the surface. They should definately use a different surface when they replace them! And the coffee table is scuffed all around the edges. Judging by how many times I told Chris/7, DH/56 and DSIL/37 to get their feet/shoes off the table, I understand why!

We had plenty of room for the six of us in the 2br. The 2nd br had two closets and two sinks and DD proclaimed it great for them. I would not want 2 additional people sleeping on the sofa all week. I think the added two would make it very crowded.

Also, the locks on the master bath are messed up. The one from the shower/sink area to the laundry was missing the lock altogether. Guess someone needed to take it home. We put the basket in front of the door to keep kids from walking in. The one from the shower/sink area to the jacuzzi/sink area had the lock latch on the jacuzzi/sick side. Hmmmm. So you could be locked into the bath, but not lock others out? I will be sending a letter to report that and the housekeeping issue to MS.

Dont' want to imply that we were unhappy at all! Everything that I didn't mention was just fine, so you can tell that the good far outweighed the not so good.

I had told MS that DD was 35 on March 10th. A special Magical Moments certificate arrived on that day just for her from DVC. I had always just told the resort, but this time I told DVC instead thinking they would note it for the resort. Was so surprised that they sent that along! I decorated the door for the week and she got a lot of comments from other guests. I also brought a gift-a-day for her to unwrap (scrapbooking stuff so easy to pack). On Tuesday she said she needed to buy a new watch and I had to remind her that she had a birthday in two days! Her "big present" was a new personalized Eeyore watch! We gave it to her in Cape May Cafe at breakfast where they announced that she "wasn't celebrating her 35th brithday" that day and sang HB with a great big cupcake and Dale helping her to blow out the candle. The night before we had a kitchen sink at B&C and they put a teeny, tiny candle in it and sang HB along with the KS routine.

DD also was picked for the witch/pretty woman in the UK comedy one day and DGD8 was picked for the "boy" in the Japan comedy (no boys would volunteer). I tried in vain to get back in the Hot Seat (was #1 at 10 questions twice and then missed #11 so dropped off the board) DGD was thrilled when I was on the board - I think she would have jumped out of her skin if I had made the seat. We are going this August together, just the two of us, so maybe I can do it then......................

So much more to tell, it was a great week. We had flights cancelled to Maine on Friday to "had to" stay one more night and got an AP rate at the AKL. Almost didn't make it back from Philly yesterday - had to fly into Manchester and drive the rest of the way. Ugh. The snow here is unbelievable. We have had almost 100 inches of snow this winter. The snowbanks are massive.

Sounds like a fun trip.

Nice touches for your DDs birthday.

Too bad you had to stay an extra day. ;) How did you like AKL?

I really enjoyed reading your report! Sounds like you had a wonderful time!

Question about BWV? Did you hear any construction-type noise on the 2nd floor from the pipe replacement they're doing? I saw somewhere that they're warning people that there might be noise during the day on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

Thanks for posting such a great trip report! :)

Such a wonderful report!! :flower:

Many Thanks ....
It was wonderfully written and made me feel I was right there with you !!

Thanks for the report. It must have been wonderful to get out of the snowy NE, at least for a while! :sunny:

We heard no noise from the pipe replacement project. Didn't see anyone working in our area either.

Hi,

Great report!!! How did you like AKL?

Oh we loved the AKL! We had stayed there before when it first opened (I had a 50% Cast rate for that stay!) with DGD. Our room this time was way down the hall, three rooms from the end, looking on the Arusha Savannah. Took forever to get there, but lots of animal activity so it was worth it. The walk had me wondering what was longer - BWV or AKL or BCV to SAB!

The only stinker was the idiot next door to us who was smoking cigars on the porch! He's out there staying stupid things to his wife and kids and then says "let's see how much the animals likes cigars" and then lights one up! So I say as loud as I can to DH - there's no smoking on the porches at AKL - if they find you smoking you will get removed from the property. We didn't smell anything again, so didn't turn him in, but would have if he had continued.

We had dinner and breakfast at Boma with the 20% DDE. So yummy!
