Hello fellow DVC'ers!

We are going to do a split stay this upcoming trip and have rooms booked at BCV and BWV. My inlaws are coming with us and my MIL has a lot of issues with her leg which causes a lot of walking problems. We are trying to get her to rent a scooter to make the trip a lot easier but she refuses (I think she doesn't want to think of herself as "handicapped", even though we keep telling her it doesn't mean that, we are just looking out for her overall comfort). Any recommendations as far as room requests or specific areas we can put a request in (I know they are just requests, and we may not get it, but it doesn't hurt to try)? Or should I just request a room closest to the lobbies so coming and going will not be too bad? We went with my inlaws this past December and stayed in AKV Kidani, and we ended up ALL THE WAY down those long hallways, which was very tough on her. I'd like to try to avoid that as much as possible if we can this trip!

Thanks for any suggestions!

I can only offer suggestions for BCV.

I would suggest near the main bank of elevators which are close to the entrance to the villas. I am assuming you are in a 2 bdrm by the number of guests you listed. This would put you close to the lobby and not far from the bus stop.

Hopefully you can convince her to use the scooter. I think it will make the trip more enjoyable and less stressful for all of you if you are not worried about her walking too much!

Enjoy BCV! It is our absolute fav!!!:cheer2:

BWV - which view and which room size?

Sounds pretty straightforward to me. Request near the elevators in BWV and
BCV (main bank). Mention that you would like the request based on medical reasons.

If BWV and you have a standard view request close to elevator (unlike AKV, BWV has only one block of elavators which are near the lobby) . If preferred pool/garden view request the same or alternatively overlooking Village Greeen. If boardwalk view, you will have to do some walking no matter what you request, but try for over the general store.

Thank you for the suggestions!! Yes I guess I left out some info lol...my in laws will have a separate room from us, so they will be in a studio at BCV and then a BWV 1 BR standard view. We are more concerned of course with their room, ours it doesn't really matter.

I will definitely take a look at those maps, I've never stayed at either one of those resorts so I hope I am reading them right! And I really appreciate the input!

Here's an aerial view of BWV with room classifications.

A BWV Standard room would be in the "green" area. The uppermost part of that section is closest to the elevators and lobby.

Good luck! :)

Granny, thank you soooo much for that!!! Excellent, I will call MS tomorrow to make the requests. You guys are the best!

Do you have your own car? If so, you'll want to be closer to the parking lot at BCV than the main elevator. So request closer to the parking lot elevator. But at BWV, just request near the elevator. You are far from parking at BW no matter where you are.

Definately try to get her to rent a scooter. Even if she gets a room near the elevators, all the walking to/from bus stops, dock, parks as well as in the parks is what will wear her out. We used walker scooters for my mom and dad last time and were extremelly happy with them (we had multiple problems with buena vista rentals previously). They drop off and pick up at your resort, and they are MUCH less expensive.
Btw, my dad refused to use a scooter at WDW for a long time. We eventually told him it would help all of us if he did, as we wouldn't have to stop, wait, etc all the time. Once he thought he was helping everyone else by getting one, he was much more willing:)
