Can someone please explain to me what the difference is between the regular and accessible studio & 1BR units? Does the 1BR still have the jacuzzi? Thanks!
The ADA/handicap accessible villas vs the regular non-handicap villas. It seems like many members don't want the handicap units, I was wondering what the actual differences are.
Most GV entrances are on floor 2, and once inside have an "upstairs" with 2 bedrooms. I think there is at least 1 GV that is on the ground floor, and then there are the newer bldgs with elevators. I have stayed in an accesible studio, and in place of the tub, it had a roll-in shower, and of couse the higher toilet. I don't know how the 1 bedroom units differ, although I think they still have the jacuzi tub.
All the one and 2 bedroom fully wheelchair accessible units still have the jacuzzi. The shower stall is a roll in shower with a pull down seat.
The wheelchair accessible studio would have a roll in shower.
I don't know about the DVC units, but in the resort rooms, some of the handicapped rooms still have tubs. The tubs just have grab bars and the toilet is a raised seat toilet.
This picture shows the roll-in shower and roll under sink from the BCV. The BW would be fairly similar. The regular bathroom has a pedistal sink, so there is no storage space under it in a regular room either:
Here's a picture of the regular room shower to compare:
