BWV 1BR Cash Reservation Question

I have a 1BR reserved with a cash reservation for mid February, but I thought I'd ask the DVC experts for their thoughts. How will we be assigned a room? Since there are no distinctions between "preferred" and "standard" for cash reservations is it worthwhile to request a location? Or are we at the bottom of the priority list when it comes to room assignments? Any thoughts regarding desirable 1BR non-smoking locations. We have a grandma who tires easily, a 5 year old who will want to swim at Luna, a 2 year old, and a dad (me) who would like easy access to late night outdoor jacuzzi.

Thanks for your opinions.

It's always worthwhile to express your requests.

Jjust ask for a non-smoking room with easy access to the pool/jacuzzi area. (You will have a jacuzzi in the room also! ;) )

Enjoy your stay!

My advice is to ask for a non-smoking room that is near the elevators. Luna Park is just steps away from the first floor elevators and since Grandma tires easily (probably won't want to do stairs) and you have a 2 year old (I'm thinking stroller), you'll be glad to be close to those elevators. BWV has only the one set of elevators.

Not all the rooms that have easy access to the pool and hot tub are close to the elevators. But if you are close to the elevators, you're just an elevator ride away from Luna Park. Believe the BWV hot tub is near the quiet pool/Community Hall and those rooms can be quite a hike from the elevators!

There might also be a hot tub near the Luna Park pool, but I'm not 100% sure about that. If so, close to the elevators would be perfect for what you want!

Enjoy the trip!

There is a hot tub at Luna Park pool, it is located behind the pool bar. It is not very big, nor is it very private. IMO the hot tub at the quiet pool is much nicer.

Thanks for your help. As a follow-up, I've read that there are some 1BRs (corners - I think) that are larger and have two views. Is this true, and are any of these near the elevators.

Also, does anyone have experience with the ground floor units? Are they easily accessed? I recall staying in a ground floor unit at the Inn which was ideal except for having to go up steps and then back down to reach the elevators.

Thanks again for your help.

Ground floors can be accessed from the Boardwalk, pool areas & parking lot without using an elevator. Although the entrance from the parking lot on the first floor was closed when I was there in early December due to renovations. Most corner rooms would not be near the elevator.

From my experiences and others I have read, room assignment requests can be difficult to get at BWV. On our trip last month, I had requested a fireworks view. You can see Illuminations from the standard upper floor rooms. I made the reservation at 11 months. They assigned us a first floor room. Kind of hard to see from there. So I asked the cm if they had anything available on an upper floor and she found us an empty 4th floor room that had a perfect view of Illuminations. My question is why didn't they give us that in the first place?

Thanks again for all the info.

One final follow-up. If I request a 1) Non-Smoking on 2) First floor 3) Corner 4) Near the quiet pool, will this be too much information?

I'm giving them my ideal scenario but in order of priority, but I'll trim it down if it's too much.

Thanks again. Now I'll drift back into lurker status, unless I think of another question of course!
