My mom and I had a wonderful stay at the Boardwalk Villas Jan. 17-21. Even on short notice, we were able to snag a 1 bedroom standard view. The room was ready when we returned from the parks at 4:30 Monday afternoon. Our luggage arrived right after we entered the villa. The bellman was friendly and efficient at unloading our luggage and groceries. We had a large balcony that overlooked the waterway at the front of the boardwalk hotel. It had a beautiful fountain in it. Plus, were able to see Illuminations each night from the balcony! It was a beautiful view for a standard room!

There were room service dishes outside of our room when we got there. When we returned from the parks Tuesday afternoon, they were still there. One looked like it had milk in it and the other had juice. We decided to move it to the garbage room since I wasn’t sure where it went. Inside, the room was clean. The fridge was smaller then the one at the Beach Club and the washer/dryer looked to be older than the BCV one. There was a broken wine glass in the cupboard that we sat on the cabinet. I just glanced in all the cabinets as the only thing we used in the kitchen was the glasses for soda.

Is it me or are there too many doors in the bathroom area?!! I felt like I was always opening doors. At night, we would only leave the bedroom door and the front door to the bathroom open (straight shot in) so we wouldn’t be confused. The Jacuzzi tub was very nice and we used it every night! It was especially nice after being so cold watching the fireworks to then be able to soak in the hot tub!

We loved the quaintness of the BWV. The white picket fence hallway walls were very cute. However, the hallways were LONG! Very long. We would leave the elevator to the right and go down that hallway and then go to the left to the end of that hallway. There was still a whole other hallway before you reach the end of the hotel. After a few days of that, it grew old. However, I wouldn’t have traded it for the wonderful view that we had. I guess everything had its tradeoffs.

As for comparisons, I liked the BWV and I loved the BCV. Just a personal preference. We had lunch twice at Beaches & Cream and I really missed the BCV. However, I’d like to try all the WDW resorts, so it was fun to try something new. I would probably stay here again if I could get a BW view room. I think that might be a neat experience. For the points, you cannot beat a standard view!! Our 1 bedroom was considerably cheaper than our stay at AKL.

The bus/boat system was very efficient. We only waited for a boat for 15 minutes one morning. The rest of the time was only a 5 or 10 minute wait. We had no complaints about the transportation.

Thanks for the great report Tony. I was at BWV at the same time as you pretty much (1/16-1/21), still haven't gotten around to writing a report. I was "upgraded" from a standard to a preferred view but quite honestly I would have not been happy had I used more points for the supposed preferred room I got. The fact that it was as far as could be from the elevators (room 4129, only 3 rooms are farther away) was not an issue for me, but the view was FAR from preferred. If I looked to the right it was fine, TOT and Crescent Lake. But if I looked straight ahead or to the left it was parking lot city. Mind you I didn't complain, especially since I had only expected a standard view, but I might have had a thing or two to say if I had expected preferred. The room you had sounds like one I had last year, room 4117 I believe, the view you mentioned seems identical to that one. I thought the view was far superior in that Standard room than it was in the preferred one I had this trip.

Anyway I'll get around to writing a report soon. Still digging out here in NY.

Thanks for the report! What was your room number?

Glad you had a great trip!

The reason for the three doors in the bath are so that any guests staying in the LR can use the sink/shower/toilet without having to go thru the Master Bedroom.

Sorry!! It was 4121. It was a dedicated one bedroom as well.

Yep, just 2 doors down from the standard I mentioned above that I had last May. Excellent room, much nicer view than the supposedly "preferred" one I ended up with last week. And that nice long balcony you had in 4121 is super (instead of the 2 small ones I had in my not-particularly-preferred room, LOL). Also, 4129 is a lock off, not dedicated as 4121 is.(no big deal there, just mentioning it).

I don't know how they determine preferred, although I do think I recall reading it had to do with having a water view. 4129 indeed had a water view, but only if you looked to the right, otherwise, as I posted above, if you looked straight ahead or to the left it was the parking lot. No view of illuminations. I wonder how many people have used more points for a preferred view and ended up with the room I had and DIDN'T complain. I think the only reason they "upgraded" me at no fee to that room was that most people who get it are (justifiably) unhappy with it as a preferred view.

Are you sure it wasn't 4123? The x123 units are standard-view rooms on the corner so they are dedicated 1BR units. 4121 is a 'regular' 1BR and the view of Illuminations is partially obscured by a tree (unless they've trimmed or removed it).

Thanks for the great report! We are trying BWV next time and we're eager to see how we like it. It's always nice to hear a good review.

I'd have to double check, but I'm pretty sure it was 4121. It was right as you rounded the hallway, so I'll have to look at my stuff again.

There was a tree outside the room, but I didn't really notice that Illuminations was obscured. We stayed on the patio area right outside of the bedroom and I thought the view was good.

idratherbeinwdw - Sounds like you were "upgraded" to a room that no one wanted. I was very happy with our view. Outside the patio area by the living room was a beautiful fountain. If you looked to the right you could see the parking lot, but straight ahead was water and the obscured bus stop. To the left was the entry area. Very nice view!! I was very happy!

Yep, I sure got beat on my "upgrade", but since I expected a standard view anyway I didn't bother to whine about it. Saving my whining for more important issues! (and I don't want to get on that "naughty" list! :teeth:. I just made sure I looked to the right at the canal and MGM and not straight ahead or left. ;) At least I did have a decent view of the fantasmic lights and fireworks and I could hear the sounds from the balcony.

I know exactly the view you had Tony, as I posted earlier I was in 4117 (just 2 doors before 4121) a couple of trips ago (May 2004) and thought the view was excellent. Much better than the supposed preferred one I just had, even though it was a standard. I have some pics from then, here's the link:http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/idrat...=&.done=http://photos.yahoo.com/ph//my_photos
If you look through the photos you'll see a couple with the view from the balcony. There's also a view from the outside looking up at the balcony. For some reason Yahoo turns some of my pics sideways, they are not like that in the album. And BTW the person you see waving in the jacuzzi room is my good buddy Joan, not me.
