For those of you who have stayed at BWPPI...were you brave enough to venture into the dreaded Captain Kidd's for the free breakfast? I have NO idea what to expect...but the reviews on Yelp for CK's are pretty unanimously terrifying.

Anyone try it? Care to share your experience and photos if you've got 'em?

Thanks! :thumbsup2

I just called BWPPI about this. I am venturing out to DLR this weekend and was thinking about BWPPI - but all they had available were mini-suites and I will be solo. So instead I am staying next door at Tropicana.

Anyhow, BWPPI said very clearly that their continental breakfast is not at Captain Kidds. Rather, they rent out the space on the floor above Captain Kidds for their breakfast. But it has nothing to do with CK. FWIW. :)

Oh, wow. Who knew?!

Thanks so much...that is encouraging news and I think we will probably give it a shot, in that case.

:dance3:

Yes it totally different!!!! Don't worry, if you've got your free bfast at BWPPI then you're good to go. :) You will be 100% fine. As a pp said, it's not affiliated with CK's, it's just the space above, the food is not provided by CK's and it's really good. :)

This is such good news....thank you! :)

We are staying here for one night in two weeks and I was nervous lol glad to see it isn't from CK's! Prob wont eat it but it's nice to know just in case!

Well if true that is great. Though really sounds strange. Why would BWPPI have it's own kitchen to make good food but not a place to serve it? Not saying it isn't true, just sounds odd.

It is true that the food is served in the room above Captain Kidds, but don't go there expecting anything that is handmade. It is packaged pastries, hard boiled eggs, cereal, oranges and apples, nothing fancy, but it certainly works! We have stayed there multiple times and have enjoyed the breakfast every time.

They don't have a kitchen. The upstairs is just a small meeting room, they have multiple choices of cold cereal, milk, hot cereal, hot tea, coffee, juices, milk to drink, hard boiled eggs, muffins, pastries and other "easy" bfast stuff. I want to say there were waffles when we were there but there was a little toaster to heat them in, they were like Eggo waffles, not freshly made but still good. We also had toast, bagles, cream cheese, etc etc when we ate there. It was one of the better free bfasts we've had at DL. :) Oh ya, fruit too. :)

Ok this doesn't sound too bad then. At least they stretch the cold breakfast to have some variety.

It's upstairs and it's not bad. Cereal, bagels, hard boiled eggs, drinks. Better than Desert Inn and Suites by far.

Just one warning....go as early as you can. If you go at a busy time, the food can run VERY low. It is pretty good for a basic breakfast. I was SO relieved that the food wasn't provided by CK!!

DH actually loves the breakfast provided by BWPPI. Its deifnitely not the food they are serving in the Captain Kidds restaurant. And its enough to get our entire family (ages 59-3)going before the park. Last time we were there was a year ago. They had 4 kinds of cereal, oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, hard boiled eggs, bagels, toast, danishes and whole fruit like apples, oranges and bananas. OJ, apple juice, coffee, milk and tea. I personally think thats pretty decent for free. The room can get pretty crowded just before park opening but we were always able to find a table. A couple of times we just grabbed what we wanted and brought it back to the room while getting ready also. We're probably staying somewhere else this trip and missing out on the breakfast has actually been brought up by DH who usually doesn't care at all about where we stay.

The continental breakfast at Captain Kidds is not bad to get a quick snack and head over to the parks in the morning. Just like what the other posts said that it does get crowded later during the morning. My DA and I always goes upstairs and get orange juice and cereal when we stay at BWPPI.
