So I have narrowed my choice between AK and BWI to move up to, Bday presant for me for our Sept trip!!:cool1:. still decideing on weather to do the CL?:confused3. So takeing the two, wich one would be best for my frist Dx stay?. I love epcot, and have alot if meals plan around both the moniral resorts and at EPCOT( a few at DTD). I also love the fact that you get a great view of the animals from the AK resort and room, and you have the oppertunity to do the sunrise breakfast(with CL). So when it comes to transportation,i know at the end of the day it might be a wash, but if you had to chose, whats easyer to get to and from. Ambience(its my new favorit word:rotfl2:), I know Animals have it hands down, but the night life on the boradwalk would seem to be tough to turndown. Getting around the resorts,to and from the bus stops to the room,is there a more complecated resort?. Any info would be great

:goodvibes Two of my favorite resorts. :)

Well, you pretty much have it nailed as far as what you can expect out of each resort. It is lovely to walk from BWI to EPCOT and it isn't too long a walk to DHS either. And AKL does have the animals and is a lovely resort to stay at. Some think it's too dark, but I love it there.

BWI has been refurbished recently, and has light toned colors in the rooms. BWI is also more $$$ than AKL, but not too much more if you're looking at a savanna view room.

As far as transportation, I think it's a wash myself. But then again I'm not unhappy with the transportation at either place. Maybe you could narrow it down by looking at the CS offerings at each place? Look at some menus for the Mara and the Boardwalk Bakery? :goodvibes

Well CS would not be a issue, we do use cs that much so that would not be a over rideing factor. So I guess it would come down to transportation and getting around the resort:confused3

So how are the buse in mid to late Sept, over all between the two. We will be there sept the 20th(my actual Bday, celebrateing in the most wonderfull place on earth:goodvibes) to the 27th. Just a Idea?

I would go with the Boardwalk Inn because in my opinion they have a much better theme, atmosphere, overall locations and more transportation options. Plus you can't forget the walkways to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. It's also easy walking to visit the Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan & Dolphin. So if you were planning on eating at any of their restaurants you wouldn't have far to go.

Well if transportation is the deciding factor, then BWI. You have the boat to EPCOT and DHS as well as walking there, and busing to MK and AKL. You share with S&D, and sometimes with YC/BC as well. Over NYE, BWI shared only with S&D, but in August they shared with YC/BC too, making for a long bus trip to the MK.

For AKL you share with Kidani, and the buses pick up from Kidani first then go to AKL. Everywhere is by bus from AKL.

So, pick BWI! :goodvibes

Well I think I am going to go with BWI:rotfl2:,love the friends here at Dis so reassureing:goodvibes. I remeber a few years back we went to boradwalk to eat and I remeber all the stops at the resorts and thought that would be a real pain, but I guess not:confused3. Is the CL at BWI worth the price of the upgrade?, We would really just use it for Breakfast, maybe! a snack in the afternoon and if where back to the room in time the desserts. But I do like the idea that the CL rooms face the boradwalk with a balcony(is this also true?) that would be so neat at night.

The Innkeepers Club Level Cast Members at the Boardwalk Inn are among the best anyone can ever want. Them alone is one great reason to stay Club Level over there. Besides that their lounge is very nice and the food offerings are great.

So my DS will be 18,would he be able to go in the lounge and eat in there?

View of the animals is not guaranteed. I know you will probably see some but you can also just go visit the resort for that. Ever since we stayed at BWV, I have been hooked on Epcot resorts. You can walk to both Epcot and DHS. If you stay at AKL the only option to any park is to take a bus. If you have dining ressies at another resort, you have to go to a park and transfer to the resort transportation. Whereas, you could just walk to Epcot or take a bus to MK or the monorail from Epcot (if you have park hoppers).

Wow I should of posted this days ago it would of made it much more simpler:rotfl2:,well i have to think now only if to do the CL or not thanks for all your help:thumbsup2

If you are just thinking of CL for continental breakfast and snacks I would just pack them or have grocery delivery. Would probably save you hundreds of dollars.

You can all go in the lounge and eat there. Small kids should be accompanied, but other that that teens can go in by themselves. They have breakfast items, some light snacks (goldfish crackers ;)) and some appetizers in the evening. It's not meal sized portions by any means, but nice to have the snacks and the desserts.

I love CL at BWI. The food is good, and the CM's are fantastic. But, "your mileage may vary" what I love might not be what you love, KWIM?

Check out the Concierge thread on here for more info. :)

You will have a more "deluxe" stay at BWI IMO. AKL seemed more like a moderate to us. The rooms aren't much larger and you have no other transportation option, only the buses. We had an awful standard view room there also (looked at rooftops). I think you made a great choice between the two.

So I wanted you all to Know frist, I just book our stay at the Boradwalk CL Sept the 20th to the 27th:cool1:

We loved our CL stay at BWI. It was our first adult vacation without the kids and the CM all went above and beyond. Loved them! The food was great and the evening appetizers was from Kouzzinis. You will totally enjoy it!

You are going to LOVE it! I like AKL, stayed there many times...but now that I have done Boardwalk CL several times---there's no going back to AKL!
