We are in WDW and BWI (standard room, standard view) from 5/10 to 5/21. Would appreciate any suggestions regarding room requests (floor, location, etc.), activities, etc. We have two kids (1, 5). Thanks in advance for your feedback.
You will love the Boardwalk Inn. My family and I were there in Oct. 2001. We also booked a standard room. We did request an upper floor with a courtyard view if possible. We were rewarded with just that! We arrived at noon time to find our room was ready and we were on the 3rd floor with an oversized balcony. Our room overlooked the honeymoon cottages and we could watch the Illuminations fireworks from our balcony. We were really lucky. As I mentioned in a previous post, it never hurts to ask as long as you are polite and not pushy. You can either fax a request to the room controller or have it noted on your reservations. Then a few days prior, give them a call to inquire. Go expecting a standard view and be pleasantly surprised if you get something more and don't be disappointed if you don't. They are wonderful at the Boardwalk and are willing to please if they are able. I know how full the hotel it does factor in to the equation.
You can't beat the location. You can walk to Epcot in five minutes and they have a new walkway from the Boardwalk to MGM. It's about a 20 minute walk. They also have ferry boats right outside the BWI to take you to either Epcot or MGM. The bus service is excellent. They have 3 pools and several hot tubs. The main pool has a 200ft slide fashioned after a wooden rollercoaster thats lots of fun, plus 2 quiet pools. There are many activities on the Boardwalk itself and endless restaurant selections. You have the Yacht & Beach Club, Swan & Dolphin and BW all around Cresent Lake.
I hope you have a great time. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
We were given a room in the same location as the previous poster and loved it! It was wonderful watching the fireworks every evening from your balcony. The thing that I really like about the resort is that you can be in the middle of all the action (on the boardwalk) or away from it all (in the garden areas) all at the same resort. In fact, we were so inpressed that we ended up buying into the Disney Vacation Club while we were down there, so now we will be returning to the Boardwalk just about every year! Enjoy your stay!
