Hi all -

It's late, and I'm having a bit of a panic attack.

In November 2006, I reserved a deluxe room at the BWI for my trip with my parents and younger brother. A big part of choosing this room category was that I wanted the extra space, a room in the main building, and a view of the Boardwalk. The BWI experts on this board assured me that all deluxe rooms have Boardwalk views, so this seemed like the perfect spot. This trip is a *huge* splurge for me, and I want it to be perfect for my folks.

I received an email confirmation dated yesterday -- though it's been all paid off for months so I didn't know why I was receiving anything -- and it lists me as being in a garden suite! I'm sure the garden suites are lovely, but I want my Boardwalk view! (My mom will sit and drink her coffee while she looks at the water, and the rest of us can sleep an extra hour.) Also, this new room arrangement appears to be about $110 less than my old one, so the confirmation is showing an overpayment.

What do I do? Has anyone dealt with this before? Do you just call and ask them to put you back where you were before?

What do you do? Look at the pictures of the Garden Suites and say Yippie!!! :) I do understand you wanting your board walk view but I would be happy for the extra room and the lovely suite. Check out the pictures here

If you really don't want the Suite I would simply call CRO and tell them Thanks for the upgrade but no thanks.

As beautiful as the garden suites are, I would be disappointed too. My reason for booking at BWI would be for a Boardwalk view, so anything else would be a disappointment.

I would just call and mention that you noticed the room category on your ressie was different than that which you reserved....more than likely, it was a complimentaty upgrage and you can just say thank you, but not thanks. If by chance they did overbook the BW view rooms, you calling ahead will give them a chance to upgrade someone who would prefer more room over the BW view.

I just got off the phone with a very nice CM.

Apparently, I wasn't moved from a deluxe room to a garden suite - I was moved from a deluxe room to two garden suites. She checked with guest relations and now I've checked with the concierge planning office ... my parents will have one garden suite, and my brother and I (he's 20 and I'm 27 so no problem with ages) will have our own.

There is a $112 dollar refund due to the fact that there are now only two adults in each room, so no extra person charges on the first room, which is the only one they're charging me for (apparently).

The CM kept calling it a "massive" upgrade. I think I'll get over the view, but it's throwing me off a little. (I don't do well when plans change. I'm too neurotic.) So, I'm going to hope this all works out at check in. If they put me back in the deluxe room, that's ok, too!

We stayed in a garden suite for part of our honeymoon, and it was really wonderful. You'll have much more extra space than you would have in a deluxe room. While you won't have a BoardWalk view, the garden suites have very pleasant views of a courtyard and the quiet pool. Plus, they have concierge access, which is always a nice perk. This is one nice upgrade! I'm a planner myself, so I understand you having anxiety over plans changing, but in the end I think you'll be super happy with the garden suites.

WOW!!
2 garden suites? that is a massive upgrade!!
& as much as i love BW view  , i would take 2 GS's over a deluxe BW view in a heartbeat!!

congrats!! :thumbsup2

Holy pixie dust for you!!! And just think - you don't have to share the space in the morning. No sharing a bathroom, trying to get dressed discreetly in the bathroom - you can have your own space and enjoy!
WOW!!! Im jealous!

How soon after you booked did you receive your first e-mail?

Thanks to everyone for the encouraging responses.

Sewer, just to clarify, I had paper confirmations sent to me when I made the reservations in Nov. 2006, again in August 2007 when I applied a AAA discount, and then received an email confirmation in October 2007 when I paid off the balance. All had said "Deluxe Room - Inn Keeper's Club" until yesterday's surprise email. And I think it was the surprise part that made me nervous.

Over the past few hours, I've actually calmed down, looked at the photos, and am excited with the chance to do something I'd not likely be willing to pay for under normal circumstances. Something new to try - and if I end up back in a deluxe room with a BW view, I'd still be a happy camper!

Somehow things just seem worse at 1am, you know?

Grats on the upgrade! I know what you mean about things being worse at 1am! I tend to open my mail in the evening. I always lose it when there is something in there I need to call a company about but its after hours! :)

Take Care

PS Put your brother on the pull out sleeper! You take the king bed!!! :) :)

btw, that is a wonderful present you're giving your parents.......they must be thrilled, & then to get not just a beautiful multi-level suite with it's own yard, but TWO of them AND money back.......

a great gift made even more wonderful with a smattering (in this case, maybe lathering! :lmao: ) of pixie dust!!
have a wonderful time!

Wow, not 1 but 2 suites...that is an upgrade :thumbsup2 Not to mention an upgrade with a refund! :cool1:

Being the BW sucker that I am, I still would have turned it down for the deluxe Boardwalk view though. LOL

I just looked at the pics of the garden suites...WOW!! Those are beautiful and HUGE! WAY better than a Boardwalk view, IMO.

Congrats on your upgrade! I am so jealous!
