We have booked a preferred view at BWV 3 times at 11 months and have never gotten a BW view. I was wondering how others have made out....spruce

We had PV twice and didn't request it either time. They were 7 month bookings. The first time we had Luna Pool view which was fun to watch the kids. It wasn't too noisy. The second was BW view down by the shops near Jelly Rolls. The noise was annoying. Particularly at 2 am when the clubs closed. The morning boat whistles were a nice reminder that we were at Disney so not so annoying! :) I didn't fing the BW view that great. In fact we now own at BWV and I request standard view at 11 months.

Booked preferred view 1 bedroom with Boardwalk view and top floor requests right at the 11 month mark for December 2000. Got top floor over the quiet pool. I don't know if also requesting top floor hurt, plus the fact that we did not arrive until after 3:00pm. Booked standard view last year and got what we requested - near the tennis courts, was on the corner over the fountain, nice view except a large tree blocked most of the fireworks and it was a long walk down the hall. This year I booked standard view again and just requested fireworks view, we'll see what we get.

I don't think how far ahead that you book your room has anything to do with which view you get. I booked one room at BWV three weeks ahead, asked for boardwalk view, and got it. I also booked 11 months ahead, and didn't get it. The CMs play around with requests right while you are standing at the desk, so you can always ask "Can you get me a boardwalk view?" I always ask what view I am getting, because a canal view is no view to me. Once they put me overlooking the garbage behind the red building by the canal, and I pitched a fit-- I didn't pay for preferred view just to look at a garbage can! The bottom line is--ask before you leave the desk with your key.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones, I have gotten a boardwalk view everytime but once when I booked a PV. The one time I did not get a boardwalk view but got the quiet pool view was last month and that was because due to the refurbishment many of the boardwalk view villas were closed since they were being refurbished. Actually I many times book a standard view to save points and also because we like the SV for a change of pace sometimes. We request a room close to the tennis courts which yields a view of the waterway leading to MGM. This is a very nice view that also gives you the added plus of seeing the Fantasmic fireworks, TOT and the adorable ducks & bunnies that jumped ship from OKW to move up to better things at BWV. LOL! :D

I attended the 2000 DVC Annual meeting for Boardwalk and this came up. The official answer is that they fill the requests by date of reservation. But other things factor in. Like how many people checked out on the day you are checking in. In my case, they offered to check if a BW view was available later in our stay and we could switch (and pay the $30 change fee), a friend who booked at the 7 month window had the same offer. Neither of us took them up on the offer (we didn't want to move once settled in) but if people do, that could throw things off for people who booked at 11 months. I've given up on it and book standard view. I don't have extra points to play with and don't want to borrow when I am not guaranteed of getting the Boardwalk view. That's another thing that came up at the meeting - someone suggested a separate Boardwalk view category. They shot that down real fast, saying it would be too difficult to manage.

hi: when i've had to take preferred view (6 times), i've never had a boardwalk view. one of those times was at the 11 month mark and boardwalk view was the top request. i usually try to get a standard view to save the points though.
