We've never stayed in one, but we are planning a big 2016 trip. By then the family will be 2 adult children with spouses and four children under 4 and under, my wife and me.
What can we expect? Plenty of room? Will this work well?

I understand that BWV has 2 story and 1 story GV's. You should decide which one you would like better and make a request.

Do you own at BWV? There are only 7 of them, 5 one story and 2 two story.

A couple of years ago we did a big trip. We had 2 adult children and their 5 kids ages 5 and under + my brother and his wife in a BWV 2 story grand villa. It was pretty chaotic with so many young kids. It might work fine for you but it was hard getting these kids to take any naps. If I had it to do over again I would have split the families with young kids into their own rooms and put more adults in the GV. But we had more rooms to work with (the GV + a 2 bedroom + 2 one bedroom units) to house 7 kids and 14 adults. Only you know how the kids will deal with the stimulation of other kids 24/7.
I agree that you would have to be wildly lucky to get a BWV GV if you don't own at BWV.
P.S. Maybe you will have another kid in the mix by then?! That happened to us on one of our big family trips. 11 month booking is longer than 9 month babies...:rotfl2:

Two of the babies are currently on the way...one in November and one in February. I'm told that's all. So we'll have a 4, 3, and 2-1's. Plus six adults. Today just for kicks, I checked availability for next Sept (2015) and there was availability. I'm hoping that's a good omen for this time next year.

I requested a one story GV because of 2 crawlers. We had a 5 out of 7 chance of getting a one story but we got s 2 story. Maybe there just wasn't a one story available on our checkin day or maybe the assigner gave a higher priority to keeping all 4 of our rooms near each other. (All 4 of our rooms were BW view on 5th floor almost next to each other---couldn't believe the assigner pulled that one off!). At any rate we ended up putting the ironing board across the railing on the stairs to keep the babies from going on the stairs. I also requested to NOT have the HA GV because I didn't want to have the toddlers messing with the knobs on the low stove. That request was honored.

You will have a master bedroom like normal and two normal bedrooms with two queens. there will also be a pullout in the living room and another space (one studio size) that is the dining room and kitchen. You'll probably need to request another pack an play (or rent cribs) and another high chair.

There is a big laundry room. Each bedroom will have its own bath - the master bath will also serve as the bathroom for the living/dining rooms.

So its five "units" big.

We had one for our last trip with our family of four.

I have stayed in a two story and one story GV. The washer and dryer in the 2 story is on the 2nd floor and is a stackable/ same set up as in the 1 and 2 Bdrm villa. The one story GV has a huge laundry room with a traditional washer and dryer. Both are gorgeous.

They book quickly as a rule so be prepared day one 11 months out. In many situations I think it's usually better and often cheaper to book a 2 BR plus other villas (? studios). It gives people their own space, is almost always far less points, it gives DP options for the various groups rather than having to get it for EVERYONE and it allows more flexibility in making changes later on if something happens and someone can't go.

The single story units have the WOW! factor and yes the laundry room is huge!
We have stayed in the 2 story unit also and like it just as well with the Juliet balcony over top the living room.
But for kids I would recommend the 1 story units.

I have never stayed in the two story but have gotten the one story 7 times luckily. I use the laundry room for extra bedroom and bring blow up beds for older kids and adults use the bedrooms. As long as you don't exceed 12 people you will have plenty of room. I like being able to have a place to gather in the mornings for a leisurely breakfast as well as a place to share stories of the day with family. If your family gets along you will love it.

I think you'll be fine. We stayed in the 1 story villa onthe 3rd floor in the section witht he Boradwalk sign.

It was FANTASTIC! Plenty of room and the balcony was more the 80' long. I'd do it again in a heart beat.

We called exactly 11 months out and got 12/28-1/5.

Have fun.

I actually got to see one this past trip 2 weeks ago at the BW. WOW... It was amazing! Mousekeeping was just finishing up with the unit and we were trying to discreetly peek in and got snagged. We were allowed to go in and got a guided tour by the CM who just finished up. We would love to stay in this Villa. Just have to find a few people to join me!!! Haha...
